TRIGGERING ACTIONS IN AN INFORMATION FEED SYSTEM
Disclosed are systems, apparatus, methods, and computer readable media for performing actions in response to information updates provided in an information feed. In one implementation, an information update to be displayed in an information feed may be received. The information feed may be capable of being displayed on a display device. The information update may be associated with a data object. A determination may be made as to whether the information update includes a designated keyword, the keyword being designated in association with a first user account. When the information update includes the designated keyword, a data value may be set to an indication that the first user account is following the data object such that updates related to the data object are capable of being stored as feed items in a feed table.
1 . A method comprising:
receiving an information update to be displayed in an information feed, the information feed capable of being displayed on a display device, the information update being associated with a data object;
determining whether the information update includes a designated keyword, the keyword being designated in association with a first user account; and
when the information update includes the designated keyword, setting a data value to an indication that the first user account is following the data object such that updates related to the data object are capable of being stored as feed items in a feed table, the feed items capable of being published in an information feed displayed on one or more devices.
2 . The method recited in claim 1 , the method further comprising:
determining whether a designated termination event has passed; and
when the designated termination event has occurred, setting the data value to an indication that the first user account is not following the data object.
3 . The method recited in claim 2 , the method further comprising:
receiving user account configuration information from a device associated with the first user account, the user account configuration information indicating the designated termination event; and
storing the designated termination event in association with a user account associated with the first user account.
4 . The method recited in claim 2 , wherein the designated termination event comprises the passage of a designated time period after setting the data value to the indication that the first user account is following the data object.
5 . The method recited in claim 1 , the method further comprising:
receiving user account configuration information from a first one of the one or more devices associated with the first user account, the user account configuration information indicating the designated keyword; and
storing the designated keyword in association with the user account.
6 . The method recited in claim 1 , the method further comprising:
determining a suggested keyword for associating with the first user account; and
transmitting an indication of the suggested keyword to a device associated with the first user account.
7 . The method recited in claim 6 , wherein the suggested keyword is selected based on information selected from the group consisting of: information associated with the first user account, information identifying commonly used keywords, information identifying related keywords, and some combination thereof.
8 . The method recited in claim 1 , the method further comprising:
transmitting a user interface component for display on the one or more devices associated with the first user account, the user interface component comprising an indication of a plurality of keywords associated with the first user account, the plurality of keywords including the designated keyword.
9 . The method recited in claim 1 , wherein the data object is a second user account in an information feed system.
10 . The method recited in claim 1 , wherein the data object is a data record stored in a database.
11 . The method recited in claim 10 , wherein the database is a multitenant database accessible to a plurality of tenants via an on-demand computing services environment.
12 . A system comprising:
one or more computing devices configured to:
receive an information update to be displayed in an information feed, the information feed capable of being displayed on a display device, the information update being associated with a data object;
determine whether the information update includes a designated keyword, the keyword being designated in association with a first user account; and
when the information update includes the designated keyword, set a data value to an indication that the first user account is following the data object such that updates related to the data object are capable of being stored as feed items in a feed table, the feed items capable of being published in an information feed displayed on one or more devices.
13 . The system recited in claim 12 , the one or more computing devices further configured to:
determine whether a designated termination event has passed; and
when the designated termination event has occurred, set the data value to an indication that the first user account is not following the data object.
14 . The system recited in claim 13 , the one or more computing devices further configured to:
receive user account configuration information from a device associated with the first user account, the user account configuration information indicating the designated termination event; and
store the designated termination event in association with a user account associated with the first user account.
15 . The system recited in claim 13 , wherein the designated termination event comprises the passage of a designated time period after setting the data value to the indication that the first user account is following the data object.
16 . The system recited in claim 12 , the one or more computing devices further configured to:
receive user account configuration information from a first one of the one or more devices associated with the first user account, the user account configuration information indicating the designated keyword; and
store the designated keyword in association with the user account.
17 . The system recited in claim 12 , the one or more computing devices further configured to:
determine a suggested keyword for associating with the first user account; and
transmit an indication of the suggested keyword to a device associated with the first user account.
18 . One or more computer readable media having instructions stored thereon for performing a method, the method comprising:
receiving an information update to be displayed in an information feed, the information feed capable of being displayed on a display device, the information update being associated with a data object;
determining whether the information update includes a designated keyword, the keyword being designated in association with a first user account; and
when the information update includes the designated keyword, setting a data value to an indication that the first user account is following the data object such that updates related to the data object are capable of being stored as feed items in a feed table, the feed items capable of being published in an information feed displayed on one or more devices.
19 . The method recited in claim 18 , the method further comprising:
determining whether a designated termination event has passed; and
when the designated termination event has occurred, setting the data value to an indication that the first user account is not following the data object.
20 . The method recited in claim 19 , the method further comprising:
receiving user account configuration information from a device associated with the first user account, the user account configuration information indicating the designated termination event; and
storing the designated termination event in association with a user account associated with the first user account.
21 . The method recited in claim 19 , wherein the designated termination event comprises the passage of a designated time period after setting the data value to the indication that the first user account is following the data object.
22 . The method recited in claim 18 , the method further comprising:
receiving user account configuration information from a first one of the one or more devices associated with the first user account, the user account configuration information indicating the designated keyword; and
storing the designated keyword in association with the user account.
23 . The method recited in claim 18 , the method further comprising:
determining a suggested keyword for associating with the first user account; and
transmitting an indication of the suggested keyword to a device associated with the first user account.
24 . The method recited in claim 23 , wherein the suggested keyword is selected based on information selected from the group consisting of: information associated with the first user account, information identifying commonly used keywords, information identifying related keywords, and some combination thereof.
25 . The method recited in claim 18 , the method further comprising:
transmitting a user interface component for display on the one or more devices associated with the first user account, the user interface component comprising an indication of a plurality of keywords associated with the first user account, the plurality of keywords including the designated keyword.
