Abstract

A system, method and device for processing data are provided. The method comprises: determining a start point and an end point in a set of datapoints; determining a scale for a range of values for the set between the start and end points; determining a first segment in a first subset of datapoints in the set; determining a first boundary for the first segment in the scale; determining a second segment in a second subset in the set; and generating a graphical representation of the datapoints on an output device. The representation includes: an axis for the scale; first and second markers for the first and second boundaries; first and second graphical features representing the first and second segments, the first feature spanning a first length along the axis, the second feature spanning a second length along the axis; and a first indicator for a first datapoint in the set.

determining a second segment in a second subset of datapoints in said set of datapoints; and

generating a graphical representation of said datapoints on an output device, said representation including

an axis for said scale;

a first marker for said first boundary;

a first graphical feature representing said first segment, said first graphical feature spanning a first length along said axis;

a second graphical feature representing said second segment, said second graphical feature spanning a second length along said axis; and

a first indicator for a first datapoint in said set of datapoints.

2 . The method of processing data as claimed in claim 1 , wherein

said scale has a plurality of markers that are consistent in scale between said start point and said end point.

3 . The method of processing data as claimed in claim 1 , wherein:

said second length is approximately equal to said first length.

4 . The method of processing data as claimed in claim 3 , wherein:

said second length is approximately equal to said first length; and

said range of datapoints of said first segment has a different scale to a range of datapoints in said second segment.

5 . The method of processing data as claimed in claim 4 , further comprising

generating in said graphical representation a second indicator for a second datapoint in said set of datapoints,

wherein said second datapoint represents a target value or a historic value for said first datapoint.

6 . The method of processing data as claimed in claim 4 , further comprising

generating a second graphical representation with said graphical representation for a second set of datapoints,

wherein said second set of datapoints relates to said consumption data, but for a timeframe that differs from a timeframe associated with said set of datapoints.

7 . The method of processing data as claimed in claim 4 , wherein:

said first graphical feature is provided in a first colour; and

said second graphical feature is provided in a second colour.

8 . The method of processing data as claimed in claim 7 , wherein:

said first colour is green; and

said first segment represents a range of target values in said set of datapoints.

9 . The method of processing data as claimed in claim 4 , wherein:

said set of datapoints represents consumption data for a resource; and

said first datapoint represents real time consumption of said resource at a location.

10 . The method of processing data as claimed in claim 9 , further comprising:

analyzing model data to identify a goal for consumption of said resource at said location; and

generating in said graphical representation a second indicator for said goal.

11 . The method of processing data as claimed in claim 10 , further comprising

determining a progression rate to change usage of said resource at said location from said first datapoint to said goal.

12 . The method of processing data as claimed in claim 11 , further comprising

generating control signals to control a device to implement said progression rate.

13 . The method of processing data as claimed in claim 12 , wherein

said goal is based on at least one of time of using savings and a rebate program.

14 . The method of processing data as claimed in claim 10 , wherein

said model data includes goal data based on at least one of time of using savings and a rebate program.

15 . A system for processing data, comprising:

a first module to process a set of datapoints by

determining a start point and an end point in said set of datapoints;

determining a scale for a range of values for said set of datapoints between said startpoint and said endpoint;

determining a first segment in a first subset of datapoints in said set of datapoints;

determining a first boundary for said first segment in said scale; and

determining a second segment in a second subset of datapoints in said set of datapoints;

a second module to generate a graphical representation of said datapoints for an output device, by generating data for said representation relating to

an axis for said scale;

a first marker for said first boundary;

a first graphical feature representing said first segment, said first graphical feature spanning a first length along said axis;

a second graphical feature representing said second segment, said second graphical feature spanning a second length along said axis; and

a first indicator for a first datapoint in said set of datapoints.

16 . The system for processing data as claimed in claim 15 , further comprising a third module to:

analyze model data to identify a goal for consumption of said resource at said location; and
