Abstract

An agricultural system for conveying product to a holding container is provided. One agricultural system includes a product conveying system having a conveyor and a hopper. The conveyor is configured to move product from the hopper to a holding container. The hopper has an opening for receiving product, and the opening includes a first side adjacent to the conveyor, and a second side opposite the first side. The second side is substantially v-shaped, and configured to channel the product to exit the hopper through the opening while the opening is directed downwardly.

Claims (24)

1. An agricultural system comprising:

a product conveying system having a conveyor and a hopper, wherein the conveyor is configured to move product from the hopper to a holding container;

wherein the hopper has an opening for receiving product, and the opening includes a first side adjacent to the conveyor, and a second side opposite the first side, and wherein the second side is substantially v-shaped, and configured to channel the product to exit the hopper through the opening and into a container coupled to the hopper and positioned adjacent to the second side as the hopper folds from a first position in which the opening is directed upwardly to a second position in which the opening is directed downwardly.

2. The agricultural system of claim 1 , wherein the hopper comprises a hook adjacent to the second side of the opening, and the hook is configured to hold the container to capture the product exiting the opening.

3. The agricultural system of claim 1 , wherein the hopper is configured to fold under the conveyor into the second position that directs the opening downwardly.

4. The agricultural system of claim 1 , wherein the hopper comprises a first auger configured to move the product from the hopper to the conveyor via rotation of the first auger.

5. The agricultural system of claim 4 , wherein the first auger is configured to couple to a second auger in the conveyor such that rotation of the second auger drives the first auger to rotate.

6. The agricultural system of claim 4 , wherein the hopper comprises a bearing assembly coupled to the first auger, and configured to facilitate rotation of the first auger.

7. The agricultural system of claim 6 , wherein the first auger is disposed within an internal portion of the hopper, and the bearing assembly is coupled to the second side of the opening, outside of the internal portion.

8. An agricultural system comprising:

a hopper configured to receive product through an opening having a first side configured to be positioned adjacent to a conveyor and a second side opposite the first side, and to transfer the product to the conveyor, wherein the second side of the opening comprises a v-shape configured to funnel the product to exit the hopper through the opening as the hopper is folded from a first position in which the opening is directed upwardly to receive product to a second position in which the opening is directed downwardly, and a container, wherein the hopper comprises a hook adjacent to the second side of the opening, and the hook is configured to hold the container to capture the product exiting the opening.

9. The agricultural system of claim 8 , wherein the hopper is configured to fold under the conveyor into the second position that directs the opening downwardly.

10. The agricultural system of claim 8 , wherein the hopper comprises a first auger configured to move the product from the hopper to the conveyor via rotation of the first auger.

11. The agricultural system of claim 10 , wherein the first auger is configured to couple to a second auger in the conveyor such that rotation of the second auger drives the first auger to rotate.

12. The agricultural system of claim 10 , wherein the hopper comprises a bearing assembly coupled to the first auger, and configured to facilitate rotation of the first auger.

13. The agricultural system of claim 12 , wherein the first auger is disposed within an internal portion of the hopper, and the bearing assembly is coupled to the second side of the opening, outside of the internal portion.

14. An agricultural system comprising:

a conveyor configured to move product to a holding container; and

a hopper configured to receive the product through an opening and to transfer the product to the conveyor while the hopper is in a first position, wherein the opening includes a v-shaped side positioned remotely from and generally opposite the conveyor while the hopper is in the first position, wherein the v-shaped side is configured to channel the product to exit the hopper through the opening as the hopper moves from the first position to a second position in which the v-shaped side is adjacent to the conveyor.

15. The agricultural system of claim 14 , wherein the hopper comprises a hook adjacent to the v-shaped side of the opening, and the hook is configured to hold a pail to capture the product exiting the opening.

16. The agricultural system of claim 14 , wherein the hopper is configured to fold under the conveyor into the second position, and wherein the opening is directed toward a soil surface while the hopper is in the second position.

17. The agricultural system of claim 14 , wherein the hopper comprises a first auger configured to move the product from the hopper to the conveyor via rotation of the first auger.

18. The agricultural system of claim 17 , wherein the first auger is configured to couple to a second auger in the conveyor such that rotation of the second auger drives the first auger to rotate.

19. The agricultural system of claim 17 , wherein the hopper comprises a bearing assembly coupled to the first auger, and configured to facilitate rotation of the first auger.
