Abstract

This invention provides edible compositions comprising pharmaceutically or nutraceutically active agents in particulate form homogeneously dispersed in a fat matrix, such as chocolate or chocolate compound coating.

Claims (3)

1. A chocolate composition comprising a fat matrix, said fat matrix consisting essentially of cocoa butter in the Form V crystalline polymorph and, optionally, milk fats, said chocolate composition further comprising at least about 20% by weight of one or more minerals in particulate form having a median particle size between about 1 μm and about 25 μm, and being insoluble in said chocolate, said one or more minerals being homogeneously dispersed throughout said fat matrix, wherein said chocolate composition has a taste and texture identical to unfortified chocolate and has an apparent viscosity in the molten state within about ±50% of the apparent viscosity of the identical chocolate in the absence of the one or more minerals, as measured under conditions of identical temperature and shear.

2. The chocolate composition according to claim 1 , wherein the median particle size is between about 8 μm and about 13 μm.

3. The chocolate composition according to claim 1 , wherein the median particle size is between about 10 μm and about 13 μm.
