Abstract

An ink composition for ultraviolet curable ink jets including monomer A represented by a general formula (I): CH 2 ═CR 1 —COOR 2 —O—CH═CH—R 3   (I) (in the formula, ‘R 1 ’ represents a hydrogen atom or methyl group, ‘R 2 ’ represents a divalent organic residue having a carbon number of 2 to 20, and ‘R 3 ’ represents a hydrogen atom or a monovalent organic residue having a carbon number of 1 to 11), and a photopolymerization initiator containing an acylphosphine oxide-based photopolymerization initiator and a thioxanthone-based photopolymerization initiator, in which the total content of the acylphosphine oxide-based photopolymerization initiator and the thioxanthone-based photopolymerization initiator is 8% by mass to 16% by mass with respect to the total mass of the ink composition.

Claims (16)

1. An ink composition for ultraviolet curable ink jets, comprising:

monomer A represented by the following formula (I)

CH 2 ═CR 1 —COOR 2 —O—CH═CH—R 3   (I)

(In the formula, ‘R 1 ’ represents a hydrogen atom or methyl group, ‘R 2 ’ represents a divalent organic residue having a carbon number of 2 to 20, and ‘R 3 ’ represents a hydrogen atom or a monovalent organic residue having a carbon number of 1 to 11), wherein the content of the monomer A is 10% by mass to 75% by mass with respect to the total mass of the ink composition; and

a photopolymerization initiator containing an acylphosphine oxide-based photopolymerization initiator and a thioxanthone-based photopolymerization initiator, wherein the total content of the acylphosphine oxide-based photopolymerization initiator and thioxanthone-based photopolymerization initiator is 8% by mass to 16% by mass with respect to the total mass of the ink composition,

wherein the content of the acylphosphine oxide-based photopolymerization initiator is 7% by mass to 13% by mass with respect to the total mass of the ink composition.

2. The ink composition for ultraviolet curable ink jets according to claim 1 , wherein the thioxanthone-based photopolymerization initiator includes 2,4-diethylthioxanthone.

3. The ink composition for ultraviolet curable ink jets according to claim 1 , wherein the content of the thioxanthone-based photopolymerization initiator is 1% by mass to 5% by mass with respect to the total mass of the ink composition.

4. The ink composition for ultraviolet curable ink jets according to claim 1 , wherein the monomer A is 2-(vinyloxyethoxy)ethyl (meth)acrylate.

5. The ink composition for ultraviolet curable ink jets according to claim 1 , containing phenoxyethyl(meth)acrylate.

6. The ink composition for ultraviolet curable ink jets according to claim 5 , wherein the total content of phenoxyethyl(meth) acrylate is 4% by mass or more with respect to the total mass of the ink composition.

7. The ink composition for ultraviolet curable ink jets according to claim 1 , wherein the viscosity at 20° C. is 15 mPa·s or less.

8. The ink composition for ultraviolet curable ink jets according to claim 1 , further including a color material.

9. The ink composition for ultraviolet curable ink jets according to claim 1 that can be cured by irradiating ultraviolet rays having a light emitting peak wavelength in a range of 365 nm to 405 nm at an irradiation energy of 300 mJ/cm 2 or less.

10. An ink jet recording method in which the ink composition for ultraviolet curable ink jets according to claim 1 is discharged through a head having nozzles and attached to a recording medium, and the attached ink composition for ultraviolet curable ink jets is photo-irradiated with irradiation from a light source.

11. An ink set composed of at least one of the ink compositions for ultraviolet curable ink jets according to any one of claims 1 to 9 , and at least any of a white ink composition for ultraviolet curable ink jets including no thioxanthone-based photopolymerization initiator and a clear ink composition for ultraviolet curable ink jets.
