Abstract

An integrated security system is described comprising a gateway located at a first location. The gateway includes a takeover component that establishes a coupling with a first controller of a security system installed at the first location. The security system includes security system components coupled to the first controller. The takeover component automatically extracts security data of the security system from the first controller. The gateway automatically transfers the security data extracted from the controller to a second controller. The second controller is coupled to the security system components and replaces the first controller.

Claims (41)

1. A method comprising:

sending, to a controller device of a security system, enrollment data associated with a gateway device, wherein configuration of the controller device, based on the enrollment data, enables communication, via the gateway device, between the security system and a remote device;

based on the configuration of the controller device, receiving, by the gateway device and from the controller device, security data associated with the security system; and

controlling, by the gateway device and based on the security data, operation of the security system.

2. The method of claim 1 , comprising sending an indication of the security data to the remote device.

3. The method of claim 2 , further comprising receiving, by the gateway device and from the remote device, account data.

4. The method of claim 2 , further comprising:

generating a notification based on the security data; and

sending, to the remote device and via the gateway device, the notification, wherein the notification comprises event data associated with the security system, wherein the event data comprises at least one of a change in a state of a device of the security system, data of the device of the security system, or data received by the device of the security system.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the controller device comprises a control panel device of the security system, wherein the control panel device is configured to control the security system and devices of the security system.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the gateway device comprises a touchscreen device.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the security data comprises at least one of sensor identification data, security system device data, or zone data associated with a device of the security system.

8. The method of claim 1 , further comprising: establishing communication between the gateway device and network devices at a premises, wherein the gateway device and the security system are located at the premises; and

selectively controlling, by the gateway device, data transmission between security devices of the security system and the network devices, and data transmission among the network devices.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the network devices comprise at least one of an Internet Protocol device, a camera, a touchscreen device, a device controller configured to control a device, or a sensor.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein the enrollment data indicates instructions to enroll the gateway device.

11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the enrollment data comprises an indication of enrollment of the gateway device.

12. A gateway device comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the gateway device to:

send, to a controller device of a security system, enrollment data associated with the gateway device as a wireless device of a first network of the security system, wherein configuration of the controller device, based on the enrollment data, enables communication, via the gateway device, between the security system and a remote device;

based on the configuration of the controller device, receive from the controller device, security data associated with the security system; and

control, based on the security data, operation of the security system.

13. The gateway device of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further cause the gateway device to transmit, to the remote device, the security data.

14. The gateway device of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further cause the gateway device to:

generate, based on the security data, data indicative of a notification; and

transmit, to the remote device, the data indicative of the notification.

15. The gateway device of claim 12 , wherein the configuration of the controller device comprises the gateway device being enrolled as a secondary controller device of the security system.

16. The gateway device of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, when executed, further cause the gateway device to receive data indicating that the controller device has enrolled a security sensor device in the security system.

17. A system comprising:

a gateway device located at a premises;

a security system located at the premises and comprising a controller device, wherein the controller device is configured to:

receive enrollment data associated with the gateway device, and

responsive to receiving the enrollment data, enroll the gateway device as a wireless device of the security system, wherein enrollment of the gateway device enables the gateway device to:

receive security data associated with the security system; and

control, based on the security data, the security system.

18. The system of claim 17 , wherein the enrollment of the gateway device further enables the gateway device to send, to a remote device, the security data.

19. The system of claim 17 , wherein the enrollment of the gateway device further enables the gateway device to:

generate, based on the security data, data indicative of a notification; and

send, to a remote device, the data indicative of the notification.

20. The system of claim 17 , wherein enrolling the gateway device comprises enrolling the gateway device as a secondary controller device of the security system.
