2. The gaming system of claim 1 , wherein the benefit is a rate of earning reward points.

3. The gaming system of claim 1 , wherein the play of the game includes a play of a bonus game.

4. The gaming system of claim 1 , wherein the play of the game includes a play of a wagering game.

5. The gaming system of claim 4 , wherein when executed by the at least one processor, the plurality of instructions cause the at least one processor to enable the player to place a monetary wager amount to initiate the play of the wagering game.

6. A gaming system comprising:

at least one display device;

at least one input device;

at least one processor; and

at least one memory device which stores a plurality of instructions which when executed by the at least one processor, cause the at least one processor to operate with the at least one display device and the at least one input device to:

(c) enable the player to invite a quantity of other players to each initiate a play of at least one game, the quantity of other players being greater than zero, and

(d) if the player invited the quantity of other players, provide the player a benefit, said player provided the benefit regardless of if any of the quantity of other players invited initiate any plays of any games, wherein an amount of the benefit is based on the quantity of other players invited that each initiated the play of the at least one game.

7. The gaming system of claim 6 , wherein the benefit is a rate of earning reward points.

8. The gaming system of claim 6 , wherein the play of the game includes a play of a bonus game.

9. The gaming system of claim 6 , wherein the play of the game includes a play of a wagering game.

10. The gaming system of claim 9 , wherein when executed by the at least one processor, the plurality of instructions cause the at least one processor to enable the player to place a monetary wager amount to initiate the play of the wagering game.

11. A method of operating a gaming system through a data network, said method comprising:

(a) enabling a player to initiate a play of a game,

(b) for the initiated play of the game:

(i) causing at least one processor to execute a plurality of instructions to randomly generate a game outcome,

(ii) causing at least one display device to display to the player the randomly generated game outcome,

(iii) causing the at least one processor to execute the plurality of instructions to determine any award associated with the displayed game outcome, and

(iv) causing the at least one display device to display to the player any determined award,

(c) enabling the player to invite a quantity of other players to each initiate a play of at least one game, the quantity of other players being greater than zero, and

(d) if the player invited the quantity of other players, providing the player a benefit, said player provided the benefit regardless of if any of the quantity of other players invited initiate any plays of any games and an amount of the benefit being based on the quantity of other players invited.
