Antiviral peptides against influenza virus
The present disclosure generally relates to peptides having antiviral properties. More particularly, the invention relates to peptides exhibiting activity against influenza viruses, to pharmaceutical compositions comprising the peptides, and to methods of using the peptides to prevent and/or treat influenza viral infections.
1. An antiviral peptide, wherein the antiviral peptide is SEQ ID NO: 44.
2. A composition comprising the peptide of SEQ ID NO: 44 and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
3. A method of treating or inhibiting an influenza A viral respiratory infection in a mammal, the method comprising administering to the mammal an effective amount of an antiviral peptide, wherein the antiviral peptide is SEQ ID NO: 44.
4. The method of claim 3 wherein the antiviral peptide is administered with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
5. The method of claim 3 wherein the antiviral peptide is administered through parenteral administration.
6. The method of claim 3 wherein the antiviral peptide is administered intranasally.
7. The method of claim 3 wherein the antiviral peptide is administered prophylactally.
8. The method of claim 3 wherein the antiviral peptide is administered after the mammal has been exposed to influenza A.
9. The method of claim 3 wherein the antiviral peptide is administered to the mammal at about the time the mammal is exposed to influenza A.
