Abstract

A method and an arrangement for performing the method for the error-free conversion of the counting values of a segment counter including Wiegand sensors and the position values of a fine position sensor into a total position value using the last magnetization direction of the Wiegand wire of a segment counter as part of the information for an absolute synchronization of counting and position values.

12 . A method for synchronizing an absolute segment counter having at least one pulse wire (Wiegand wire) sensor with an absolute fine position sensor for detecting translational and/or rotational movements of a body by converting the counting value of the segment counter and the position value of the fine position sensor into a total position value under all circumstances, wherein the information required for synchronization is obtained from the last magnetization direction of said at least one pulse wire, the information on the last determined segment from memory and the information of the fine position sensor on the current≦half segment.

13 . The method of claim 12 using a puke wire sensor having a first inductor coil and a second inductor coil wound around said puke wire wherein said magnetization direction of said pulse wire is determined by supplying a defined external current to said first coil and measuring the response signal in said second coil, in which said response signal, irrespective of the presence of a triggering pulse, is input to evaluation electronics for further processing.

14 . The method of claim 12 wherein said at least one pulse wire sensor has an inductor coil wound around said pulse wire and said inductor coil is used for supplying current and generating a response signal.

15 . The method of claim 14 further comprising the step of differentiating the triggering pulse from the voltage created by supplying current to said inductor coil, and, said current is supplied according to a predefined function, preferably an increasing and decreasing ramp.

16 . The method of claim 12 wherein said magnetization direction of said pulse wire is measured by at least one magnetic field sensitive probe.

17 . The method of claim 16 wherein said magnetic field sensitive probe is a Hall probe or a GMR sensor for detecting the magnetization direction of said puke wire.

18 . An arrangement for synchronizing an absolute segment counter having at least one pulse wire (Wiegand wire) sensor with an absolute fine position sensor for detecting translational and/or rotational movements of a body by converting the counting value of the segment counter and the position value of the fine position sensor into a total position value under all circumstances, comprising:

a segment counter having at least one pulse wire sensor;

a position sensor for the fine resolution of the segments;

evaluation electronics for supplying current, detecting pulses and determining the total position value.

19 . An arrangement for synchronizing an absolute segment counter having at least one pulse wire (Wiegand wire) sensor with an absolute fine position sensor for detecting translational and/or rotational movements of a body by converting the counting value of the segment counter and the position value of the fine position sensor into a total position value tinder all circumstances, as claimed in claim 18 , further comprising:

said pulse wire sensor has a first inductor coil and a second inductor wound around said pulse wire wherein said magnetization direction of said pulse wire is determined by supplying a defined external current to said first coil and measuring the response signal in said second coil, in which said response signal, irrespective of the presence of a triggering pulse, is input to said evaluation electronics.

20 . An arrangement for synchronizing an absolute segment counter having at least one pulse wire (Wiegand wire) sensor with an absolute fine position sensor for detecting translational and/or rotational movements of a body by converting the counting value of the segment counter and the position value of the fine position sensor into a total position value under all circumstances, as claimed in claim 18 , further comprising:

said at least one pulse wire sensor has an inductor coil wound around said pulse wire and said inductor coil is used for supplying current and generating a response signal.
