Abstract

An electronic device connected to at least one external electronic device, the electronic device including a communication unit configured to perform data communication with the at least one external electronic device, an interface unit configured to connect to a sound output device, and a controller configured to receive audio data when the sound output device is connected to the electronic device through the interface unit, the audio data associated with a first external electronic device outputting a second content associated with a first content being output through the electronic device from the first external electronic device, and to output the received audio data through the sound output device.

Claims (29)

1. An electronic device connected to an external electronic device, the electronic device comprising:

a display unit;

a communication unit configured to perform data communication with the external electronic device;

a sound output module; and

a controller connected to the display unit, the communication unit and the sound output module, the controller configured to:

display a first content on the display unit while a second content is displayed on the external electronic device which is connected to the electronic device,

receive a message requesting transmission of first audio data of the first content from the external electronic device, wherein the message is generated by the external electronic device based on a sound output device being connected to the external electronic device and the first content being associated with the second content, and

upon receiving the message, transmit the first audio data of the first content and second audio data together to the external electronic device,

wherein the first audio data and the second audio data are generated by the electronic device and the second audio data is not associated with the first content, and

wherein the first audio data and the second audio data are output by the external electronic device.

2. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the second audio data includes audio data generated by an operation of a system of the electronic device.

3. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the controller is further configured to stream the second content to the external electronic device through the communication unit.

4. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the controller is further configured to transmit access information for accessing the second content to the external electronic device through the communication unit.

5. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein the transmitted first audio data includes encoded audio data.

6. The electronic device of claim 1 ,

wherein the controller is further configured to display an indicator through the display unit to indicate that the first audio data is transmitted to the external electronic device when transmitting the first audio data to the external electronic device.

7. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein when the first audio data of the first content and second audio data are transmitted to the external electronic device, the controller is further configured to stop outputting the first audio data and the second audio data.

8. A method of controlling an electronic device connected to an external electronic device, the method comprising:

displaying a first content on a display unit while a second content is displayed on the external electronic device which is connected to the electronic device;

receiving a message requesting transmission of first audio data of the first content from the external electronic device, wherein the message is generated by the external electronic device based on a sound output device being connected to the external electronic device and the first content being associated with the second content; and

upon receiving the message, transmitting the first audio data of the first content and second audio data together to the external electronic device,

wherein the first audio data and the second audio data are generated by the electronic device and the second audio data is not associated with the first content, and

wherein the first audio data and the second audio data are output by the external electronic device.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the second audio data includes audio data generated by an operation of a system of the electronic device.

10. The method of claim 8 , wherein the second content is streamed to the external electronic device through a communication unit.

11. The method of claim 8 , further comprising transmitting access information for accessing the second content to the external electronic device through a communication unit.

12. The method of claim 8 , wherein the transmitted first audio data includes encoded audio data.

13. The method of claim 8 , further comprising displaying an indicator through the display unit to indicate that the first audio data is transmitted to the external electronic device when transmitting the first audio data to the external electronic device.

14. The method of claim 8 , wherein when the first audio data of the first content and second audio data are transmitted to the external electronic device, the electronic device stops outputting the first audio data and the second audio data.
