Synthetic bile acid compositions and methods
Bile acids and related compositions and methods of synthesis and use. More specifically, deoxycholic acid and related compositions, said compositions being free of all moieties of animal origin and free of pyrogenic moieties.
1. A composition comprising deoxycholate and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient and/or carrier, wherein the deoxycholate has a 14 C content of less than 1 ppt.
2. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the deoxycholate has a 14 C content of less than 0.9 ppt.
3. An aqueous pharmaceutical composition comprising deoxycholate and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient and/or carrier, wherein the deoxycholate has a 14 C content of less than 1 ppt.
4. The composition of claim 3 , wherein the DCA has a 14 C content of less than 0.9 ppt.
5. An aqueous pharmaceutical composition comprising deoxycholate, phosphatidyl choline, and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient and/or carrier, wherein the deoxycholate has a 14 C content of less than 1 ppt.
6. The composition of claim 5 , wherein the DCA has a 14 C content of less than 0.9 ppt.
7. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the deoxycholate has a 14 C content of 0.87 ppt.
8. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the deoxycholate has a 14 C content of 0.88 ppt.
9. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the deoxycholate has a 14 C content of 0.89 ppt.
10. The composition of claim 3 , wherein the deoxycholate has a 14 C content of 0.87 ppt.
11. The composition of claim 3 , wherein the deoxycholate has a 14 C content of 0.88 ppt.
12. The composition of claim 3 , wherein the deoxycholate has a 14 C content of 0.89 ppt.
13. The composition of claim 5 , wherein the deoxycholate has a 14 C content of 0.87 ppt.
14. The composition of claim 5 , wherein the deoxycholate has a 14 C content of 0.88 ppt.
15. The composition of claim 5 , wherein the deoxycholate has a 14 C content of 0.89 ppt.
16. A method for removing fat cells, said method comprising contacting said fat cells with an effective amount of a pharmaceutically acceptable salt of a deoxycholic acid (DCA), wherein said DCA has a 14 C content of less than 1 ppt.
