Abstract

Methods and compositions for resuscitating, storing, and preserving functional integrity of organs and tissues. Metabolic function is maintained by sustaining ATP levels, mitochondrial function, cardiomyocyte contractility, prevention of acidosis, inhibition of induction of apoptosis, maintaining ionontrophy and lusiotrophy by regulating calcium, sodium, potassium and chloride ions.

Claims (42)

1 . A physiological salt solution comprising glutathione, ascorbic acid, arginine, citrulline, adenosine, creatine, glucose, and carnitine.

2 . The solution of claim 1 , further comprising insulin.

3 . The solution of claim 1 , wherein the glutathione is present at a concentration of 0.01-0.75 g/L.

4 . The solution of claim 1 , wherein the ascorbic acid is present at a concentration of 0.01-0.5 g/L.

5 . The solution of claim 1 , wherein the glucose is present at a concentration of 1.0-5.0 g/L.

6 . The solution of claim 1 , wherein the carnitine is present at a concentration of 0.20-2.0 g/L.

7 . The solution of claim 39 , wherein dichloroacetate is present at a concentration of 0.01-0.5 g/L.

8 . The solution of claim 39 , wherein the glutathione is present at a concentration of 0.01-0.75 g/L, ascorbic acid is present at a concentration of 0.01-0.5 g/L, creatine monohydrate is present at a concentration of 0.01-0.5 g/L, glucose is present at a concentration of 1.0-5.0 g/L, carnitine is present at a concentration of 0.20-2.0 g/L, and dichloroacetate is present at a concentration of 0.01-0.5 g/L.

The solution of claim 1 , wherein the solution is further comprised of water and one or more of the salts selected from the group consisting of calcium chloride, potassium chloride, potassium phosphate (monobasic), magnesium chloride (hexahydrate), magnesium sulfate (heptahydrate), sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and sodium phosphate (dibasic; heptahydrate).

10 . The solution of claim 9 , wherein the calcium chloride is present at a concentration of 0.1-0.5 g/L.

11 . The solution of claim 9 , wherein the potassium chloride is present at a concentration of 0.25-0.75 g/L.

12 . The solution of claim 9 , wherein the potassium phosphate (monobasic) is present at a concentration of 0.01-0.5 g/L.

13 . The solution of claim 9 , wherein the magnesium chloride (hexahydrate) is present at a concentration of 0.01-0.5 g/L.

14 . The solution of claim 9 , wherein the magnesium sulfate (heptahydrate) is present at a concentration of 0.01-0.5 g/L.

15 . The solution of claim 9 , wherein the sodium chloride is present at a concentration of 5.0-10.0 g/L.

16 . The solution of claim 9 , wherein the sodium bicarbonate is present at a concentration of 0.01-0.5 g/L.

17 . The solution of claim 9 , wherein the sodium phosphate (dibasic; heptahydrate) is present at a concentration of 0.01-0.5 g/L.

18 . The solution of claim 1 , wherein the solution is comprised of water, calcium chloride, potassium chloride, potassium phosphate (monobasic), magnesium chloride (hexahydrate), magnesium sulfate (heptahydrate), sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and sodium phosphate (dibasic; heptahydrate).

19 . The solution of claim 18 , wherein the calcium chloride is present at a concentration of 0.1-0.5 g/L.

20 . The solution of claim 18 , wherein the potassium chloride is present at a concentration of 0.25-0.75 g/L.

21 . The solution of claim 18 , wherein the potassium phosphate (monobasic) is present at a concentration of 0.01-0.5 g/L.

22 . The solution of claim 18 , wherein the magnesium chloride (hexahydrate) is present at a concentration of 0.01-0.5 g/L.

23 . The solution of claim 18 , wherein the magnesium sulfate (heptahydrate) is present at a concentration of 0.01-0.5 g/L.

24 . The solution of claim 18 , wherein the sodium chloride is present at a concentration of 5.0-10.0 g/L.

25 . The solution of claim 18 , wherein the sodium bicarbonate is present at a concentration of 0.01-0.5 g/L.

26 . The solution of claim 18 , wherein the sodium phosphate (dibasic; heptahydrate) is present at a concentration of 0.01-0.5 g/L.

27 . The solution of claim 1 , wherein the solution is further comprised of water, 0.1-0.5 g/L calcium chloride, 0.25-0.75 g/L potassium chloride, 0.01-0.5 g/L potassium phosphate (monobasic), 0.01-0.5 g/L magnesium chloride (hexahydrate), 0.01-0.5 g/L magnesium sulfate (heptahydrate), 5.0-10.0 g/L sodium chloride, 0.01-0.5 g/L sodium bicarbonate and 0.01-0.5 g/L sodium phosphate (dibasic; heptahydrate).

28 . The solution of claim 1 , wherein the solution further comprised of carnosine.

29 . The solution of claim 1 , wherein the carnosine is present at a concentration of 0.23-2.3 g/L.

A solution comprising calcium chloride at 0.14 g/L, potassium chloride at a concentration of 0.52 g/L, potassium phosphate (monobasic) at a concentration of 0.06 g/L, magnesium chloride (hexahydrate) at a concentration of 0.10 g/L, magnesium sulfate (heptahydrate) at a concentration of 0.10 g/L, sodium chloride at a concentration of 7.31 g/L, sodium bicarbonate at a concentration of 0.35 g/L, sodium phosphate (dibasic, heptahydrate) at a concentration of 0.05 g/L, D-glucose a concentration of 1.98 g/L, glutathione at a concentration of 0.46 g/L, ascorbic acid at a concentration of 0.18 g/L, creatine orotate 0.27 m/L, creatine monohydrate at a concentration of 0.30 g/L, and L-citrulline at a concentration of 0.15 g/L.

A solution comprising calcium chloride at 0.191 g/L, potassium chloride at a concentration of 0.300 g/L, potassium phosphate (monobasic) at a concentration of 0.060 g/L, magnesium chloride (hexahydrate) at a concentration of 0.101 g/L, magnesium sulfate (heptahydrate) at a concentration of 0.123 g/L, sodium chloride at a concentration of 7.6 g/L, sodium bicarbonate at a concentration of 0.35 g/L, sodium phosphate (dibasic, heptahydrate) at a concentration of 0.05 g/L, ascorbic acid at a concentration of 0.176 g/L, L-creatine monohydrate at a concentration of 0.746 g/L, D-glucose a concentration of 1.800 g/L, and L-carnitine at a concentration of 0.5 g/L.

32 . A composition comprising a physiological salt solution, glutathione, ascorbic acid, arginine, citrulline, adenosine, creatine, glucose, and carnitine, wherein the physiological salt solution is comprised of water and one or more of the salts selected from the group consisting of calcium chloride, potassium chloride, potassium phosphate, magnesium chloride, magnesium sulfate, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and sodium phosphate.

33 . The composition of claim 32 wherein the physiological salt solution is comprised of water, calcium chloride, potassium chloride, potassium phosphate, magnesium chloride, magnesium sulfate, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, and sodium phosphate.

34 . The composition of claim 32 , wherein the composition is further comprised of carnosine.

35 . A composition comprising calcium chloride, potassium chloride, potassium phosphate, magnesium chloride, magnesium sulfate, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, sodium phosphate, D-glucose, adenosine, glutathione, ascorbic acid, L-arginine, creatine, and L-citrulline.

36 . The composition of claim 35 , wherein the composition further comprises of carnosine.

37 . A composition comprising calcium chloride, potassium chloride, potassium phosphate, magnesium chloride, magnesium sulfate, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, sodium phosphate, D-glucose, glutathione, ascorbic acid, L-arginine, L-citrulline, creatine, and L-carnitine.

38 . The composition of claim 37 , wherein the composition further comprises of carnosine.

39 . The solution of claim 1 , further comprising dichloroacetate.

40 . The solution of claim 30 , further comprising dichloroacetate at a concentration of 0.08 g/L.

41 . The composition of claim 32 , further comprising dichloroacetate.

42 . The composition of claim 35 , further comprising dichloroacetate.
