Torso garment
A torso-covering garment for playing paintball having gripping areas to enable the user to grippably contact a gripping area of the garment with the butt stock of the gun. Each gripping area comprises a pliant, non-cushioning substrate. Common embodiments of the garment are shirts, jerseys, jackets, and vests. A method of playing paintball which comprises wearing the garment of the invention, and a method of fabricating the garment.
1. A garment for stabilizing the curved rear portion of the air system tank of a paintball marker to a wearer's torso, the garment being sized to cover at least a portion of the wearer's torso and comprising flexible fabric having an inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surface being configured to contact with the body of the wearer, the outer surface containing at least two gripping regions substantially located within the torso region of the garment, each of the at least two gripping regions comprising a plurality of non-cushioning, spaced apart, raised tacky protrusions for the purpose of gripping engagement between the curved rear portion of the air system tank and the gripping region.
2. The garment of claim 1 , wherein the garment comprises a plurality of fabrics.
3. The garment of claim 1 , wherein the shape of the at least two gripping regions is selected from the group of shapes consisting of polygonal, curvilinear, and combinations thereof.
4. The garment of claim 3 , wherein the shape of the at least two gripping regions is selected from the group of shapes consisting of substantially circular, substantially rectangular, substantially trapezoidal and substantially triangular.
5. The garment of claim 1 , wherein the at least two gripping regions are located in both shoulder areas.
6. The garment of claim 1 , wherein the garment is selected from the group of garments consisting of a shirt, a jersey, and a vest.
7. The garment of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of protrusions includes protrusions having varying heights.
8. The garment of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of protrusions have a sticky surface which provides a sufficient gripping friction between the curved rear portion of the air system tank and the gripping regions to enhance aiming of the paintball marker.
9. The garment of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of protrusions includes protrusions having varying cross-sectional shapes.
10. The garment of claim 1 , wherein the plurality of protrusions have contact surfaces which form a bond with the gas tank, the bonds providing an adhesive force between the plurality of protrusions and the rear portion.
11. The garment of claim 10 , wherein the contact surfaces are disposed substantially at a center of each protrusion.
12. A garment for stabilizing the curved rear portion of the air system tank of a paintball marker to a wearer's torso, the garment being sized to cover at least a portion of the wearer's torso and comprising flexible fabric having an inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surface being configured to contact the body of the wearer, the outer surface containing at least two gripping regions substantially located within the torso region of the garment, each of the at least two gripping regions comprising a plurality of non-cushioning, spaced apart, raised tacky protrusions for the purpose of gripping engagement between the curved rear portion of the air system tank and each of the gripping regions.
13. The garment of claim 12 , wherein the shape of the at least two gripping regions is selected from the group of shapes consisting of polygonal, curvilinear, and combinations thereof.
14. The garment of claim 12 , wherein the shape of the at least two gripping regions is selected from the group of shapes consisting of substantially circular, substantially rectangular, substantially trapezoidal and substantially triangular.
15. The garment of claim 12 , wherein the at least two gripping regions are located in both shoulder areas.
16. The garment of claim 12 , wherein the garment comprises a plurality of fabrics.
17. The garment of claim 12 , wherein the plurality of protrusions have contact surfaces which form a bond with the gas tank, the bonds providing an adhesive force between the plurality of protrusions and the rear portion.
18. The garment of claim 17 , wherein the contact surfaces are disposed substantially at a center of each protrusion.
19. A method of making a garment for stabilizing the curved rear portion of the air system tank of a paintball marker to the torso of a wearer of the garment, the method comprising:
providing a flexible fabric in the shape of an article configured to cover at least a portion of the wearer's torso; and
forming at least two gripping regions on the outer side of the fabric, each of the at least two gripping regions comprising a plurality of non-cushioning, spaced apart, raised tacky protrusions for the purpose of gripping engagement between the curved rear portion of the air system tank and the gripping region.
20. The method of claim 19 , wherein the at least two gripping regions are located in both shoulder areas.
