Abstract

The present invention is a gene expression panel of chemotherapeutic drug-resistant cancer stem cells comprising RIN1, SOX15 and TLR4. In one embodiment the cancer stem cells are testicular cancer germ cells. The present invention provides for a kit and method for determining response to treatment with decitabine at low doses.

Claims (6)

1 . A kit for determining sensitivity of a cancer cell to decitabine treatment comprising a detection mechanism for determining the expression of Toll-Like Receptor 4 (TLR4), Ras and Rab interactor 1 (RIN1), and Sex Determining Region Y-box 15 (SOX15).

2 . The kit of claim 1 , wherein the cancer cell is testicular germ cell cancer.

3 . A method for determining sensitivity to decitabine treatment comprising determining the expression of Toll-Like Receptor 4 (TLR4), Ras and Rab interactor 1 (RIN1), and Sex Determining Region Y-box 15 (SOX15) in a sample from a cancer patient receiving decitabine treatment and comparing said expression with a control, wherein increased expression of TLR4, RIN1 and SOX15 in the patient sample as compared to the control is indicative of sensitivity to decitabine treatment.

4 . The method of claim 3 , wherein the cancer is testicular germ cell cancer.

5 . A gene expression panel indicative of decitabine-sensitive cancer stem cells comprising Toll-Like Receptor 4 (TLR4), Ras and Rab interactor 1 (RIN1), and Sex Determining Region Y-box 15 (SOX15).

6 . The gene expression panel of claim 5 , wherein said cancer stem cell is a testicular cancer germ cell, a breast cancer stem cell, a pancreatic cancer stem cell, or a glioblastoma stem cell.
