Abstract

A system and method for generating a virtual tour on a display device is described. The method comprises providing at least one map. The method further comprises providing a plurality of sequenced images, wherein each of the images is associated with at least one location by a geo-coding module configured to generate a geo-location object data sheet that associates sequential images with a corresponding location. The sequenced images are organized based on the location of each of the sequenced images and displayed on the map. The method is implemented by the system.

37 . A system for presenting user generated digital information, comprising:

a plurality of geo-located objects (GLOBs), wherein each GLOB among the plurality of GLOBs includes a location component associated with a digital information object;

a plurality of GLOB Data Sheets (GDSs), wherein each GDS among the plurality of GDSs is associated with a GLOB among the plurality of GLOBs, wherein each GDS includes one or more data fields storing auxiliary information associated with the GLOB;

a grouping of GLOBs organized as a function of at least one of time and location;

an implicit local module organizing the grouping of GLOBs based on the location of at least one GLOB that has a location defined; and

a display device configured to present the organized grouping of GLOBs.

38 . The system as recited in claim 37 , wherein a type of the digital information object includes at least one of a picture, a video, an audio, a sensor measurement, a map, a document, a recorded location log, an automotive telemetry, a weather report, and a news item.

39 . The system as recited in claim 37 , further comprising an input system enabling the user to specify the location of one or more GLOBs among the plurality of GLOBs.

40 . The system as recited in claim 37 , wherein the display device is further configured to present a map, wherein the input system enables the user to click on the map to specify the location of the one or more GLOBs among the plurality of GLOBs.

41 . The system as recited in claim 37 , further comprising a storage unit receiving a plurality of third party content from a remote server, wherein each GLOB, each GDS, and the grouping of GLOBs are generated using the plurality of third party content.

42 . The system as recited in claim 37 , further comprising a storage unit that is remote from the system, wherein at least one of the GDS and the plurality of GLOBs are stored in the storage unit.

43 . The system as recited in claim 37 , wherein the one or more auxiliary data fields are searchable.

44 . The system as recited in claim 37 , wherein the display device is further configured to display the auxiliary information extracted from the GDS.

45 . The system as recited in claim 37 further comprising,

an input system enabling the user to specify the location of one or more GLOBs among the plurality of GLOBs;

wherein the display device is further configured to present a map, wherein the input system enables the user to click on the map to specify the location of the one or more GLOBs among the plurality of GLOBs;

wherein the one or more auxiliary data fields are searchable; and

wherein the display device is further configured to display the auxiliary information extracted from the GDS.

46 . The system as recited in claim 45 , wherein a type of the digital information object includes at least one of a picture, a video, an audio, a sensor measurement, a map, a document, a recorded location log, an automotive telemetry, a weather report, and a news item.

47 . A system for presenting user generated digital information, comprising:

a plurality of geo-located objects (GLOBs), wherein each GLOB among the plurality of GLOBs includes a location component associated with a digital information object;

a plurality of GLOB Data Sheets (GDS), wherein each GDS among the plurality of GDSs is associated with a GLOB among the plurality of GLOBs, each GDS configured to include one or more data fields storing auxiliary information associated with the GLOB;

a means for generating a grouping of GLOBs organized as a function of at least one of time and location;

a means for organizing the grouping of GLOBs based on the location of at least one GLOB that has a location defined; and

a means for displaying the organized grouping of GLOBs on a display device.

48 . The system as recited in claim 47 , wherein a type of the digital information object includes at least one of a picture, a video, an audio, a sensor measurement, a map, a document, a recorded location log, an automotive telemetry, a weather report, and a news item.

49 . The system as recited in claim 47 , further comprising input means for enabling the user to specify the location of one or more GLOBs among the plurality of GLOBs.

50 . The system as recited in claim 49 , further comprising means for displaying a map on the display device, wherein the input means enables the user to click on the map to specify the location of the one or more GLOBs among the plurality of GLOBs.

51 . The system as recited in claim 47 , further comprising a storage unit receiving a plurality of third party content from a remote server, wherein each GLOB, each GDS, and the grouping of GLOBs are generated using the plurality of third party content.

52 . The system as recited in claim 47 , further comprising a storage unit that is remote from the system, wherein at least one of the GDS and the plurality of GLOBs are stored in the storage unit.

53 . The system as recited in claim 47 , wherein the one or more auxiliary data fields are searchable.

54 . The system as recited in claim 47 , wherein the means for displaying includes means for displaying the auxiliary information extracted from a GDS among the plurality of GDSs.

55 . A method for presenting user generated digital information, comprising the steps of:

receiving a plurality of geo-located objects (GLOBs), wherein each GLOB includes a location associated with a digital information object;

generating a plurality of GLOB Data Sheets (GDSs), wherein each GDS among the plurality of GDSs is associated with a GLOB among the plurality of GLOBs, each GDS including one or more auxiliary data fields storing auxiliary information associated with the GLOB;

organizing a grouping of GLOBs based on at least one of time and location, wherein organizing based on location includes an implicit local module organizing one or more GLOBs with missing location based on the location of at least one GLOB with a location defined; and

displaying the organized grouping of GLOBs on a display device.

56 . The method as recited in claim 55 , wherein a type of the digital information object includes at least one of a picture, a video, an audio, a sensor measurement, a map, a document, a recorded location log, an automotive telemetry, a weather report, and a news item.

57 . The method as recited in claim 55 , further comprising the step of enabling a user to specify the location of one or more GLOBs among the plurality of GLOBs.

58 . The method as recited in claim 55 , further comprising the steps of:

displaying a map on the display device; and

enabling a user to click on the map to specify the location of one or more GLOBs among the plurality of GLOBs.

59 . The method as recited in claim 55 , further comprising the step of receiving a plurality of third party content, wherein the plurality of GDSs and the grouping of GLOBs are generated using the plurality of third party content.

60 . The method as recited in claim 55 , wherein the one or more auxiliary data fields are searchable.

61 . The method as recited in claim 55 , further comprising the step of displaying on the display device the auxiliary information extracted from a GDS among the plurality of GDSs.

62 . The method as recited in claim 55 , wherein the step of receiving the plurality of GLOBs includes the steps of:

collecting a plurality of digital information objects; and

associating one or more objects among the plurality of digital information objects with one or more locations among a plurality of locations, resulting in the plurality of GLOBs.

63 . The method as recited in claim 55 further comprising,

enabling a user to specify the location of one or more GLOBs among the plurality of GLOBs;

displaying a map on the display device;

enabling a user to click on the map to specify the location of one or more GLOBs among the plurality of GLOBs;

enabling at least one auxiliary data fields to be searchable;

displaying on the display device the auxiliary information extracted from a GDS among the plurality of GDSs.

64 . The method as recited in claim 63 , wherein a type of the digital information object includes at least one of a picture, a video, an audio, a sensor measurement, a map, a document, a recorded location log, an automotive telemetry, a weather report, and a news item.
