Abstract

Provided is a method and apparatus for encoding/decoding an audio signal. Sections which are not used to output noise components near important spectral components and sub-bands which are not used to output noise components, are determined to be encoded or decoded, so that the efficiency of encoding and decoding an audio signal increases, and sound quality can be improved using less bits.

Claims (3)

1. A method of performing a noise filling process on an audio signal in a decoding apparatus, the method comprising:

generating noise components using a noise level included in a bitstream; and

selectively adding the noise components to spectrum components quantized to zero in the audio signal, by excluding a predetermined section from among the spectrum components quantized to zero, to obtain a noise-filled spectrum of the audio signal.
