Abstract

A boiler loop system including a primary-secondary piping loop interface apparatus having unitary construction including a flow diversion device, and a drain valve and a drain port in branches from a circumferential sidewall. In an embodiment, supply branch piping and return branch piping connect the primary-secondary piping loop interface apparatus to a boiler and provide attachment points for auxiliary plumbing equipment. In an embodiment, the boiler loop is integrated into the primary loop.

Claims (44)

1 . A primary-secondary piping system, comprising:

a primary piping loop;

a near boiler piping loop;

a secondary piping loop;

a primary-near boiler piping loop interface apparatus comprising:

a first tubular fluid conduit having a first circumferential sidewall having a first end and a second end,

first and second neck portions extending substantially perpendicular from the circumferential sidewall and being substantially parallel to each other, wherein each neck portion comprises a drain valve portion extending from the neck portion, including a drain shut-off valve and a drain port, and

first and second flow diversion devices disposed in the first and second neck portions, respectively, wherein each flow diversion device forms a first flow path between the tubular fluid conduit and the neck in a first position and a second flow path between the drain valve portion and the neck in a second position; and

a primary-secondary piping loop interface apparatus comprising:

a second tubular fluid conduit having a second circumferential sidewall having a first end and a second end,

first and second neck portions extending substantially perpendicular from the second circumferential sidewall and being substantially parallel to each other, wherein each neck portion comprises a drain valve portion extending from the neck portion, including a drain shut-off valve and a drain port, and

first and second flow diversion devices disposed in the first and second neck portions, respectively, wherein each flow diversion device forms a first flow path between the second tubular fluid conduit and the neck in a first position and a second flow path between the drain valve portion and the neck in a second position.

2 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 1 , further comprising a boiler operatively connected to the near boiler piping loop.

3 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 2 , further comprising a near boiler piping loop circulation pump.

4 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 3 , wherein the near boiler piping loop circulation pump is incorporated internally within the boiler.

5 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 3 , wherein the near boiler piping loop circulation pump is external to the boiler.

6 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 5 , wherein the first or second neck portion of the primary-near boiler piping loop interface apparatus comprises a flange to interface with the near boiler piping loop circulation pump.

7 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 6 , wherein the flange is rotatable.

8 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 1 , further comprising a secondary piping loop circulation pump.

9 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 8 , wherein the first or second neck portion of the primary-secondary piping loop interface apparatus comprises a flange to interface with the secondary piping loop circulation pump.

10 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 9 , wherein the flange is rotatable.

11 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 1 , further comprising a primary loop circulation pump operatively connected to the primary piping loop.

12 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of secondary piping loops comprising a plurality of primary-secondary piping loop interface apparatus.

13 . The primary secondary piping system of claim 12 , wherein each of the plurality of secondary piping loops constituting a separate heating zone.

14 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 12 , wherein each of the plurality of secondary piping loops comprises a secondary piping loop circulation pump.

15 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 1 , wherein the primary-near boiler piping loop interface apparatus and the primary-secondary piping loop interface apparatus are each constructed as a single unit.

16 . A primary-secondary piping system, comprising:

a primary piping loop;

a secondary piping loop; and

a primary-secondary piping loop interface apparatus comprising:

a tubular fluid conduit having a circumferential sidewall having a first end and a second end,

first and second neck portions extending substantially perpendicular from the circumferential sidewall and being substantially parallel to each other, wherein each neck portion comprises a drain valve portion extending from the neck portion, including a drain shut-off valve and a drain port, and

first and second flow diversion devices disposed in the first and second neck portions, respectively, wherein each flow diversion device forms a first flow path between the tubular fluid conduit and the neck in a first position and a second flow path between the drain valve portion and the neck in a second position.

17 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 16 , further comprising a boiler operatively connected to the primary piping loop.

18 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 17 , further comprising a primary piping loop circulation pump.

19 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 18 , wherein the primary piping loop circulation pump is incorporated internally within the boiler.

20 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 18 , wherein the primary piping loop circulation pump is external to the boiler.

21 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 16 , further comprising a secondary piping loop circulation pump.

22 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 21 , wherein the first or second neck portion of the primary-secondary piping loop interface apparatus comprises a flange to interface with the secondary piping loop circulation pump.

23 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 22 , wherein the flange is rotatable.

24 . The primary-secondary piping system of claim 16 , further comprising a plurality of secondary piping loops comprising a plurality of primary-secondary piping loop interface apparatus.
