Abstract

A communication system for supporting carrier aggregation and a method and apparatus for updating system information thereof are disclosed. A method for providing system information in the communication system supporting carrier aggregation includes: when system information of said communication system changes, generating first information including information for indicating the change of system information; determining a first cell of a terminal related to the change of system information, wherein said first cell is one of cells to which said terminal connects, and corresponds to a carrier unit currently used by said terminal for keeping connection with a base station of said communication system; and transmitting said first information to said terminal through said first cell.

Claims (142)

1. An electronic device for use in a communication system supporting carrier aggregation, comprising:

circuitry configured to

generate first information in response to a change in system information of the communication system;

determine a first cell of a user equipment involved in the change in system information, wherein the first cell is one cell to which the user equipment is connected and corresponds to a component carrier which is being used by the user equipment and is kept in connection with a base station of the communication system; and

transmit the first information to the user equipment via the first cell,

wherein the change in system information comprises different system information for another component carrier of a second cell that also communicates with the user equipment while the first cell is communicating with the user equipment to increase the communication channel capacity to the user equipment, the first information comprises system information associated with the another component carrier,

the first information further comprises system information comprising configuration information on downlink transmission bandwidth and information indicating downlink carrier frequency associated with the another component carrier.

2. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment on a dedicated channel.

3. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment, wherein

the first information is a part of a RRCConnectionReconfiguration message.

4. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment, wherein

the first information includes information that identifies another cell associated with the another carrier component as part of the change in system information.

5. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment, wherein

the first information includes Physical hybrid-ARQ indicator channel (PHICH) and/or Physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) information associated with the another component carrier.

6. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment, wherein

the first information includes mbsfn-SubframeConfigList information associated with the another component carrier.

7. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment, wherein

the first information includes uplinkPowerControl information and/or soundingRS-UL-Config information, and/or ul-CyclicPrefixLength information, and/or pusch-Config information associated with the another component carrier.

8. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment, wherein

the first information includes uplink bandwidth and/or uplink carrier frequency, and/or prach-Config information associated with the another component carrier.

9. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein

the another carrier component is a carrier having fewer channels that the component carrier that is being used by the user equipment.

10. The electronic device of claim 1 , wherein

the another carrier component does not have at least one of a RACH channel, a PDCCH channel, and a PUCCH channel.

11. An electronic device for use in a communication system supporting carrier aggregation, comprising:

circuitry configured to

generate first information in response to a change in system information of the communication system;

determine a first cell of a user equipment involved in the change in system information, wherein the first cell is one cell to which the user equipment is connected and corresponds to a component carrier which is being used by the user equipment and is kept in connection with a base station of the communication system; and

transmit the first information to the user equipment,

wherein the change in system information is transmitted in a single message and comprises different system information for another component carrier of a second cell that also communicates with the user equipment while the first cell is communicating with the user equipment to increase the communication channel capacity to the user equipment, the first information comprises system information associated with the another component carrier,

the first information further comprises system information comprising configuration information on downlink transmission bandwidth and information indicating downlink carrier frequency associated with the another component carrier.

12. The electronic device of claim 11 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment on a dedicated channel.

13. The electronic device of claim 11 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment, wherein

the first information is a part of a RRCConnectionReconfiguration message.

14. The electronic device of claim 11 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment, wherein

the single message includes information that identifies another cell associated with the another carrier component as part of the change in system information.

15. The electronic device of claim 11 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment, wherein

the single message includes Physical hybrid-ARQ indicator channel (PHICH) and/or Physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) information.

16. The electronic device of claim 11 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment, wherein

the single message includes mbsfn-SubframeConfigList information.

17. The electronic device of claim 11 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment, wherein

the single message includes uplinkPowerControl information and/or soundingRS-UL-Config information, and/or ul-CyclicPrefixLength information, and/or pusch-Config information.

18. The electronic device of claim 11 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment, wherein

the single message includes uplink bandwidth and/or uplink carrier frequency, and/or prach-Config information.

19. The electronic device of claim 11 , wherein

the another carrier component is a carrier having fewer channels that the component carrier that tis being used by the user equipment.

20. The electronic device of claim 11 , wherein

the another carrier component does not have at least one of a RACH channel, a PDCCH channel, and a PUCCH channel.

21. An electronic device for use in a communication system supporting carrier aggregation, comprising:

circuitry configured to

generate first information in response to a change in system information of the communication system;

determine a first cell of a user equipment involved in the change in system information, wherein the first cell is one cell to which the user equipment is connected and corresponds to a component carrier which is being used by the user equipment and is kept in connection with a base station of the communication system; and

transmit of the first cell the first information to the user equipment,

wherein the change in system information is only transmitted of the first cell and comprises different system information for another component carrier of a second cell that also communicates with the user equipment while the first cell is communicating with the user equipment to increase the communication channel capacity to the user equipment, the first information comprises system information associated with the another component carrier,

the first information further comprises system information comprising configuration information on downlink transmission bandwidth and information indicating downlink carrier frequency associated with the another component carrier.

22. The electronic device of claim 21 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment on a dedicated channel.

23. The electronic device of claim 21 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment, wherein

the first information is a part of a RRCConnectionReconfiguration message.

24. The electronic device of claim 21 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment, wherein

the change in system information includes information that identifies another cell associated with the another carrier component as part of the change in system information.

25. The electronic device of claim 21 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment, wherein

the change in system information includes Physical hybrid-ARQ indicator channel (PHICH) and/or Physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) information.

26. The electronic device of claim 21 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment, wherein

the change in system information includes mbsfn-SubframeConfigList information.

27. The electronic device of claim 21 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment, wherein

the change in system information includes uplinkPowerControl information and/or soundingRS-UL-Config information, and/or ul-CyclicPrefixLength information, and/or pusch-Config information.

28. The electronic device of claim 21 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to transmit the first information from the first cell to the user equipment, wherein

the change in system information includes uplink bandwidth and/or uplink carrier frequency, and/or prach-Config information.

29. The electronic device of claim 21 , wherein

the another carrier component is a carrier having fewer channels that the component carrier that tis being used by the user equipment.

30. The electronic device of claim 21 , wherein

the another carrier component does not have at least one of a RACH channel, a PDCCH channel, and a PUCCH channel.

31. A method of providing system information in a communication system supporting carrier aggregation, comprising:

generating first information in response to a change in system information of the communication system;

determining a first cell of a user equipment involved in the change in system information, wherein the first cell is one cell to which the user equipment is connected and corresponds to a component carrier which is being used by the user equipment and is kept in connection with a base station of the communication system; and

transmitting the first information to the user equipment via the first cell,

wherein the change in system information comprises different system information for another component carrier of a second cell that also communicates with the user equipment while the first cell is communicating with the user equipment to increase the communication channel capacity to the user equipment, the first information comprises system information associated with the another component carrier,

the first information further comprises system information comprising configuration information on downlink transmission bandwidth and information indicating downlink carrier frequency associated with the another component carrier.

32. A method of providing system information in a communication system supporting carrier aggregation, comprising:

generating first information in response to a change in system information of the communication system;

determining a first cell of a user equipment involved in the change in system information, wherein the first cell is one cell to which the user equipment is connected and corresponds to a component carrier which is being used by the user equipment and is kept in connection with a base station of the communication system; and

transmitting the first information to the user equipment,

wherein the change in system information is transmitted in a single message and comprises different system information for another component carrier of a second cell that also communicates with the user equipment while the first cell is communicating with the user equipment to increase the communication channel capacity to the user equipment, the first information comprises system information associated with the another component carrier,

the first information further comprises system information comprising configuration information on downlink transmission bandwidth and information indicating downlink carrier frequency associated with the another component carrier.

33. A method of providing system information in a communication system supporting carrier aggregation, comprising:

generating first information in response to a change in system information of the communication system;

determining a first cell of a user equipment involved in the change in system information, wherein the first cell is one cell to which the user equipment is connected and corresponds to a component carrier which is being used by the user equipment and is kept in connection with a base station of the communication system; and

transmitting of the first cell the first information to the user equipment,

wherein the change in system information is only transmitted of the first cell and comprises different system information for another component carrier of a second cell that also communicates with the user equipment while the first cell is communicating with the user equipment to increase the communication channel capacity to the user equipment, the first information comprises system information associated with the another component carrier,

the first information further comprises system information comprising configuration information on downlink transmission bandwidth and information indicating downlink carrier frequency associated with the another component carrier.

34. A non-transitory computer readable storage device having instructions stored therein that when executed by circuitry causes the circuitry to implement a method of providing system information in a communication system supporting carrier aggregation, the method comprising:

generating first information in response to a change in system information of the communication system;

determining a first cell of a user equipment involved in the change in system information, wherein the first cell is one cell to which the user equipment is connected and corresponds to a component carrier which is being used by the user equipment and is kept in connection with a base station of the communication system; and

transmitting the first information to the user equipment via the first cell,

wherein the change in system information comprises different system information for another component carrier of a second cell that also communicates with the user equipment while the first cell is communicating with the user equipment to increase the communication channel capacity to the user equipment, the first information comprises system information associated with the another component carrier,

the first information further comprises system information comprising configuration information on downlink transmission bandwidth and information indicating downlink carrier frequency associated with the another component carrier.

35. A non-transitory computer readable storage device having instructions stored therein that when executed by circuitry causes the circuitry to implement a method of providing system information in a communication system supporting carrier aggregation, the method comprising:

generating first information in response to a change in system information of the communication system;

determining a first cell of a user equipment involved in the change in system information, wherein the first cell is one cell to which the user equipment is connected and corresponds to a component carrier which is being used by the user equipment and is kept in connection with a base station of the communication system; and

transmitting the first information to the user equipment,

wherein the change in system information is transmitted in a single message and comprises different system information for another component carrier of a second cell that also communicates with the user equipment while the first cell is communicating with the user equipment to increase the communication channel capacity to the user equipment, the first information comprises system information associated with the another component carrier,

the first information further comprises system information comprising configuration information on downlink transmission bandwidth and information indicating downlink carrier frequency associated with the another component carrier.

36. A non-transitory computer readable storage device having instructions stored therein that when executed by circuitry causes the circuitry to implement a method of providing system information in a communication system supporting carrier aggregation, the method comprising:

generating first information in response to a change in system information of the communication system;

determining a first cell of a user equipment involved in the change in system information, wherein the first cell is one cell to which the user equipment is connected and corresponds to a component carrier which is being used by the user equipment and is kept in connection with a base station of the communication system; and

transmitting of the first cell the first information to the user equipment,

wherein the change in system information is only transmitted of the first cell and comprises different system information for another component carrier of a second cell that also communicates with the user equipment while the first cell is communicating with the user equipment to increase the communication channel capacity to the user equipment, the first information comprises system information associated with the another component carrier,

the first information further comprises system information comprising configuration information on downlink transmission bandwidth and information indicating downlink carrier frequency associated with the another component carrier.

37. An electronic device for use in a user equipment of a communication system supporting carrier aggregation, comprising:

circuitry configured to

receive first information transmitted to the user equipment via a first cell in response to a change in system information of the communication system, wherein the first cell is one cell to which the user equipment is connected and corresponds to a component carrier which is being used by the user equipment and is kept in connection with a base station of the communication system,

wherein the change in system information comprises different system information for another component carrier of a second cell that also communicates with the user equipment while the first cell is communicating with the user equipment to increase the communication channel capacity to the user equipment, the first information comprises system information associated with the another component carrier,

the first information further comprises system information comprising configuration information on downlink transmission bandwidth and information indicating downlink carrier frequency associated with the another component carrier.

38. The electronic device of claim 37 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to receive the first information from the first on a dedicated channel.

39. The electronic device of claim 37 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to receive the first information from the first cell, wherein

the first information is a part of a RRCConnectionReconfiguration message.

40. The electronic device of claim 37 , wherein

the circuitry is configured to receive the first information from the first cell, wherein

the first information includes information that identifies another cell associated with the another carrier component as part of the change in system information.
