2. A method according to claim 1 , wherein the food product is not meat, fish, or dairy product.

3. A method according to claim 1 , wherein the food product is selected from the group of meal replacers, dietary supplements, ice-cream, sauces, dressing, spreads, bars, sweets, snacks, cereals and beverages.

4. A method according to claim 1 , wherein the menaquinone level is from 5 to 100 μg per 100 g product.

5. A method according to claim 1 , wherein the menaquinone is a MK-4 menaquinone.

6. A method according to claim 1 , wherein the menaquinone is a MK-n menaquinone and n is greater than 4.

7. A method according to claim 1 , wherein the food product further comprises one or more of calcium, vitamin D or magnesium.

8. A method according to claim 1 , wherein the individual is a human.

9. A method for maintaining, optimising, strengthening or promoting cardiovascular health of an individual, comprising providing a food product which is not an egg, cheese or natto, and adding menaquinone to the food product so that the total amount of vitamin K in the food product consists essentially of menaquinone in an amount of 5 to 5000 μg per 100 g of product.

10. A method for maintaining, optimising, strengthening or promoting cardiovascular health of an individual, comprising providing a food product containing vitamin K, wherein the food product is selected from the group of meal replacers, dietary supplements, ice-cream, sauces, dressing, margarine, bars, sweets, snacks, cereals and beverages, and the total amount of vitamin K in the food product consists essentially of menaquinone at a level of 5 to 5000 μg per serving.

11. A method according to claim 10 , wherein the menaquinone level is from 5 to 100 μg per serving.

12. A method according to claim 10 , wherein the menaquinone is a MK-4 menaquinone.

13. A method according to claim 10 , wherein the menaquinone is a MK-n menaquinone, wherein n is greater than 4.

14. A method according to claim 10 , wherein the food product further comprises one or more of calcium, vitamin D, or magnesium.

15. A method according to claim 10 , wherein the menaquinone has been added to the food product.

16. A method according to claim 10 , wherein the individual is a human.

17. A method for maintaining, optimising, strengthening or promoting cardiovascular health of an individual, comprising providing a food product containing vitamin K, wherein the food product is selected from the group of meal replacers, dietary supplements, ice-cream, sauces, dressing, margarine, bars, sweets, snacks, cereals and beverages, and adding an amount of menaquinone to the food product so that the total amount of vitamin K in the food product consists essentially of menaquinone at a level of 5 to 5000 μg per serving.

18. A method according to claim 17 , wherein the menaquinone level is from 5 to 100 μg per serving.

19. A method according to claim 17 , wherein the menaquinone is a MK-4 menaquinone.

20. A method according to claim 17 , wherein the menaquinone is a MK-n menaquinone, wherein n is greater than 4.

21. A method according to claim 17 , wherein the food product further comprises one or more of calcium, vitamin D, or magnesium.

22. A method according to claim 17 , wherein the menaquinone has been added to the food product.

23. A method according to claim 17 , wherein the individual is a human.

24. A method for maintaining, optimising, strengthening or promoting cardiovascular health of an individual, comprising providing a food product containing vitamin K, wherein the total amount of vitamin K in the food product consists only of 5 to 5000 μg of menaquinone per 100 grams of product or per serving.

25. A method for maintaining, optimising, strengthening or promoting cardiovascular health of an individual according to claim 24 , wherein the food product contains 5 to 50 μg of menaquinone and is consumed once daily by the individual.

26. A method for maintaining, optimising, strengthening or promoting cardiovascular health of an individual according to claim 24 , wherein the food product consists of 5 to 200 μg of menaquinone per 100 grams of product or per serving and is consumed once daily by the individual.

27. A method according to claim 24 , wherein the menaquinone has been added to the food product.

28. A method according to claim 24 , wherein the menaquinone is MK-4.

29. A method according to claim 24 , wherein the menaquinone is MK-n, wherein n is greater than 4.

30. A method according to claim 24 , wherein the individual is a human.
