Abstract

One variation includes a top mount, integrated housing and spring bearing.

Claims (11)

1. A product comprising a top mount for a strut comprising an upper shell portion and a lower shell portion, the lower shell portion including an integrated spring bearing comprising an upper housing, a lower housing, and a spring bearing received between the upper housing and the lower housing, and wherein at least a portion of the lower housing extends downward to an end of the top mount.

2. A product as set forth in claim 1 further comprising a jounce bumper cup mechanically attached to the lower shell portion.

3. A product as set forth in claim 2 wherein the jounce bumper cup comprises a metal.

4. A product as set forth in claim 1 further comprising a strut rod attachment component received in the upper shell portion and lower shell portion.

5. A product as set forth in claim 4 further comprising a roller bearing received in the strut rod attachment component.

6. A product as set forth in claim 4 further comprising a collar received in the strut rod attachment component, the collar being constructed and arranged to receive a portion of a strut rod.

7. A product as set forth in claim 6 further comprising a microcellular urethane material covering at least a portion of the collar.

8. A product as set forth in claim 7 wherein the collar includes a flange extending in a radial direction and wherein the microcellular urethane material covers at least a portion of the flange.

9. A product as set forth in claim 4 further comprising a main resilient or elastomeric component surrounds at least a portion of the strut rod attachment component.

10. A product comprising a top mount for a strut comprising an upper spring bearing housing, a lower spring bearing housing, and a spring bearing received between the upper spring bearing housing and the lower spring bearing housing, and wherein at least a portion of the lower spring bearing housing extends downward to an end of the top mount.

11. A product comprising a top mount for a strut comprising an upper shell portion and a lower shell portion, the lower shell portion including an integrated spring bearing housing comprising an upper housing, a lower housing, and a spring bearing received between the upper housing and the lower housing, a jounce bumper cup mechanically attached to the lower shell portion, and wherein at least a portion of the lower housing extends downward a distance past the jounce bumper cup.
