Abstract

Some examples provide systems, methods, apparatus, and computer program products for providing a market platform. The market platform may operate to inform buyers and suppliers, to allow buyers and suppliers to select products and contracting parameters to meet their needs, to allow buyers and suppliers to commit to supply agreements, and to enforce those supply agreements. These examples may provide such an integrated system by receiving buyer spend data, receiving contract offers from one or more suppliers based on the spend data, allowing the buyer to select one or more of the contract offers, and monitoring spend data to ensure compliance with the selected contract offer. The system may include dynamic pricing models, altering the price of the purchased products based on compliance with the selected contract offer. The system may also allow for various contracting models for managing the pricing of products based on the contractual terms agreed to by the buyer and supplier.

Claims (59)

1 . A method comprising:

receiving a set of buyer needs, the buyer needs identifying at least one product;

receiving a plurality of contracts from one or more suppliers of the at least one product, the plurality of contracts reflecting terms under which the supplier agrees to provide the at least one product to the buyer;

determining, using a processor, a plurality of subsets of the plurality of contracts, each of the subsets meeting the set of buyer needs;

determining a value for one or more of the plurality of subsets;

identifying one or more optimized subsets of the plurality of subsets based on the value of each of the particular subsets;

providing the one or more optimized subsets to the buyer.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving spend data, the spend data comprising data tracking the purchase of the at least one product by the buyer;

determining, using the spend data, whether the buyer is in compliance with the terms of the one or more contracts associated with the one or more optimized subsets; and

in response to determining that the buyer is not in compliance, notifying the at least one of the supplier or the buyer that the buyer is not in compliance.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein determining that the buyer is not in compliance comprises at least one of determining that the buyer is at least one of overcomplying with the terms of the one or more contracts or that the buyer is undercomplying with the terms of the one or more contracts.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the at least one optimized subset provided to the buyer includes a plurality of mutually exclusive sets of contracts, and wherein the method further comprises receiving a selection of at least one of the mutually exclusive sets of contracts, the selection indicating acceptance of the selected mutually exclusive set.

5 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the value comprises at least one of an aggregate product cost for the purchase contracts of the subset, and a number of suppliers for the purchase contracts of the subset.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the buyer needs are derived from at least one of a set of buyer spend data and a buyer request for pricing.

7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the method further comprises receiving the buyer spend data from a materials management system.

8 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining one or more equivalent products to the at least one product according to one or more product cross-references;

identifying the one or more equivalent products as products that will meet the buyer needs; and

including contracts for purchase of the one or more equivalent items in the plurality of contracts.

9 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining that at least one of the buyer or the seller is in compliance with the terms of the one or more contracts associated with the one or more optimized subsets; and

notifying one or more of the buyer or the seller of the compliance.

10 . An apparatus comprising at least one processor and at least one computer readable storage medium, the computer readable storage medium comprising instructions, that when executed by the processor, configure the processor to:

receive a set of buyer needs, the buyer needs identifying at least one product;

receive a plurality of contracts from one or more suppliers of the at least one product, the plurality of contracts reflecting terms under which the supplier agrees to provide the at least one product to the buyer;

determine, a plurality of subsets of the plurality of contracts, each of the subsets meeting the set of buyer needs;

determine a value for one or more of the plurality of subsets;

identify one or more optimized subsets of the plurality of subsets based on the value of each of the particular subsets;

provide the one or more optimized subsets to the buyer.

11 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

receive spend data, the spend data comprising data tracking the purchase of the at least one product by the buyer;

determine, using the spend data, whether the buyer is in compliance with the terms of the one or more contracts associated with the one or more optimized subsets; and

in response to determining that the buyer is not in compliance, notify at least one of the buyer or the supplier that the buyer is not in compliance.

12 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein determining that the buyer is not in compliance comprises at least one of determining that the buyer is at least one of overcomplying with the terms of the one or more contracts or that the buyer is undercomplying with the terms of the one or more contracts.

13 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the at least one subset of the plurality of contracts provided to the buyer includes a plurality of mutually exclusive sets of contracts, and wherein the processor is further configured to receive a selection of at least one of the mutually exclusive sets of contracts, the selection indicating acceptance of the selected mutually exclusive set.

14 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the cost comprises at least one of an aggregate product cost for the purchase contracts of the subset, and a number of suppliers for the purchase contracts of the subset.

15 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the buyer needs are derived from at least one of a set of buyer spend data, and a buyer request for pricing.

16 . The apparatus of claim 15 , wherein the processor is further configured to receive the buyer spend data from a buyer enterprise resource planner system.

17 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

determining one or more equivalent products to the at least one product according to one or more product cross-references;

identifying the one or more equivalent products as products that will meet the buyer needs; and

including contracts for purchase of the one or more equivalent items in the plurality of contracts.

18 . A computer readable storage medium comprising instructions that, when executed by a processor, configure the processor to:

receive a set of buyer needs, the buyer needs identifying at least one product;

receive a plurality of contracts from one or more suppliers of the at least one product, the plurality of contracts reflecting terms under which the supplier agrees to provide the at least one product to the buyer;

determine, a plurality of subsets of the plurality of contracts, each of the subsets meeting the set of buyer needs;

determine a value for one or more of the plurality of subsets;

identify one or more optimized subsets of the plurality of subsets based on the value of each of the particular subsets;

provide the one or more optimized subsets to the buyer.

19 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 18 , wherein the instructions further comprise:

receive spend data, the spend data comprising data tracking the purchase of the at least one product by the buyer;

determine, using the spend data, whether the buyer is in compliance with the terms of the one or more contracts associated with the one or more optimized subsets; and

in response to determining that the buyer is not in compliance, notify the supplier that the buyer is not in compliance.

20 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 18 , wherein determining that the buyer is not in compliance comprises at least one of determining that the buyer is at least one of overcomplying with the terms of the one or more contracts or that the buyer is undercomplying with the terms of the one or more contracts.

21 . The computer readable storage medium of claim 18 , wherein the at least one subset of the plurality of contracts provided to the buyer includes a plurality of mutually exclusive sets of contracts, and wherein the method further comprises receiving a selection of at least one of the mutually exclusive sets of contracts, the selection indicating acceptance of the selected mutually exclusive set.
