Abstract

A method for producing a functional shaft is provided in which a functional element which is provided with a pocket is inserted into a retaining element, a shaft is inserted into the pocket, and a force applied to the functional element while the shaft is being inserted into the pocket is measured. A device for producing a functional shaft and to a functional shaft produced in accordance with the method is also provided.

Claims (7)

1. A method for producing a functional shaft, comprising the steps of:

inserting each of at least two functional elements provided with a pocket into a respective retaining element at a predetermined angular position, the retaining elements being located axially one after the other at a predetermined axial distance relative to each other;

inserting a shaft into the pockets of the at least two functional elements;

measuring independently a force that is applied to each retaining element while the shaft is being inserted into the pockets of the at least two functional elements; and

determining from each measured force a value of a torque which the inserted shaft and the respective functional element is capable of withstanding without relative motion between the inserted shaft and the respective functional element.

2. The method claimed in claim 1 , wherein the functional shaft is a camshaft.

3. The method claimed in claim 1 , wherein for determining the value of the torque it is taken into account whether the shaft while being inserted into the pockets is inserted earlier or later into the pocket of the respective functional element.
