Abstract

A method of reducing an inflammatory response in a subject is provided. The method comprising providing to a subject in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of an agent capable of reducing activity and/or expression of a scavenger receptor or of an effector thereof, thereby reducing the inflammatory response in the subject.

Claims (14)

1. A method of treating an autoimmune inflammatory disease in a subject in need thereof, the method comprising administering to said subject a therapeutically effective amount of an isolated anti-SR-B1 antibody, thereby treating the autoimmune inflammatory disease in the subject, wherein said autoimmune inflammatory disease is selected from the group consisting of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA).

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein said isolated anti-SR-B1 antibody reduces secretion of IL-12 or TNF-α or both in leukocytes.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein said isolated anti-SR-B1 antibody increases secretion of IL-10 in leukocytes.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein said isolated anti-SR-B1 antibody reduces secretion of IL-12 or TNF-α or both, and increases secretion of IL-10 in leukocytes.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein said isolated anti-SR-B1 antibody reduces secretion of IL-12 or TNF-α or both in macrophages.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein said isolated anti-SR-B1 antibody increases secretion of IL-10 in macrophages.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein said isolated anti-SR-B1 antibody reduces secretion of IL-12 or TNF-α or both, and increases secretion of IL-10 in macrophages.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein said isolated anti-SR-B1 antibody reduces secretion of IL-12 or TNF-α or both in T cells.

9. The method of claim 1 , wherein said isolated anti-SR-B1 antibody increases secretion of IL-10 in T cells.

10. The method of claim 1 , wherein said isolated anti-SR-B1 antibody reduces secretion of IL-12 or TNF-α or both, and increases secretion of IL-10 in T cells.

11. The method of claim 1 , wherein said isolated anti-SR-B1 antibody is a human anti-SR-B1 antibody.

12. The method of claim 1 , wherein said autoimmune inflammatory disease is Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE).

13. The method of claim 1 , wherein said autoimmune inflammatory disease is Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

14. The method of claim 1 , wherein said autoimmune inflammatory disease is Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA).
