Abstract

Claims (55)

1. A method for generating recommendations for achieving goals, comprising,

receiving a goal for a user account, the goal being associated with an activity that is trackable via a monitoring device;

receiving tracking data associated with the monitoring device, at least part of the tracking data is associated to the activity;

receiving geo-location data associated with the monitoring device, the geo-location data being correlated to the tracking data;

analyzing the received tracking data and geo-location data to characterize a current performance metric for the activity; and

generating a recommendation for the user account, the recommendation identifying the current performance metric and a suggested action and location for increasing the current performance metric to achieve the goal.

2. The method of claim 1 , further comprising,

from time to time, analyzing the tracked data and geo-location data to compute when milestones for the goal are reached; and

generating a reward for the user account upon reaching one or more of the milestones.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the action and location is suggested based on examination of the geo-location data that is defined to facilitate the action so as to increase the current performance metric for the activity.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein producing the suggested action and location further comprises,

accessing a database of pre-associated actions and corresponding locations;

producing a plurality of candidate actions and locations;

identify the suggested action and location that is customized for the user account.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein the recommendation of the suggested action and location includes identifying an additional period of time to continue the activity so as to achieve the goal.

6. The method of claim 1 , wherein the recommendation of the suggested action and location provides for suggestions to change a pattern of historical tracked actions to achieve the goal.

7. A method for generating recommendations for achieving goals, comprising,

receiving a goal for a user account, the goal being associated with an activity that is trackable via a monitoring device;

obtaining tracking data associated with the monitoring device, at least part of the tracking data is associated to the activity;

obtaining geo-location data associated with the monitoring device, the geo-location data being correlated to the tracking data;

analyzing the received tracking data and geo-location data to characterize a current performance metric for the activity; and

generating a recommendation for the user account, the recommendation identifying the current performance metric and a suggested action and location for increasing the current performance metric to achieve the goal.

8. The method of claim 7 , further comprising,

from time to time, analyzing the tracked data and geo-location data to compute when milestones for the goal are reached; and

generating a reward for the user account upon reaching one or more of the milestones.

9. A method comprising:

receiving a goal associated with a first activity of a user and a first location of a monitoring device, the first activity performed when the user is using the monitoring device, the first location determined when the user is using the monitoring device;

determining whether a milestone to achieve the goal is reached, wherein determining whether the milestone is reached is based on an amount of the first activity performed by the user over a period of time; and

recommending a second location to be visited by the user and an amount of a second activity to be performed by the user at the second location to achieve the milestone upon determining that the milestone will not be reached, the method being executed by a processor.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein the second activity is the same as the first activity.

11. The method of claim 9 , wherein the second location is the same as the first location.

12. The method of claim 9 , wherein the second activity is different from the first activity.

13. The method of claim 9 , wherein the second location is different from the first location.

14. The method of claim 9 , wherein determining whether the milestone is reached is based on calorie information, the calorie information generated based on a location of an eating place at which the user has consumed food.

15. The method of claim 9 , wherein recommending the second location includes adding a graphical element representing that the second location provides healthy food.

16. The method of claim 9 , further comprising providing a computer-generated award to a user account of the user upon determining the milestone is reached.

17. The method of claim 9 , wherein the goal is associated with a computer social network of the user or an advertiser.

18. The method of claim 9 , wherein the second location determined based on the first activity and a distance between the first location and the second location, wherein the second activity is determined based on a distance between the first location and the second location.

19. The method of claim 9 , wherein determining whether the milestone is reached is based on step information, or distance information, or stairs information,

wherein such information is generated at least in part based on a location of the user.

20. A method comprising:

receiving a goal associated with a first activity of a user and a first location of a monitoring device, the first activity performed when the user is using the monitoring device, the first location determined when the user is using the monitoring device;

determining whether the goal has a reduced likelihood of being completed, wherein determining whether the goal has the reduced likelihood is based on an amount of the first activity performed by the user; and

recommending a second location to be visited by the user to achieve the goal upon determining that the goal has the reduced likelihood of being completed.

21. The method of claim 20 , further comprising recommending an amount of a second activity to be performed by the user, wherein the second activity is the same as the first activity.

22. The method of claim 20 , wherein the second location is the same as the first location.

23. The method of claim 20 , further comprising recommending an amount of a second activity to be performed by the user, wherein the second activity is different from the first activity.

24. The method of claim 20 , wherein the second location is different from the first location.

25. The method of claim 20 , wherein recommending the second location includes adding a graphical element representing that the second location provides healthy food.

26. The method of claim 20 , further comprising:

determining whether the goal is reached; and

providing a computer-generated award to a user account of the user upon determining the goal is reached.

27. The method of claim 20 , wherein the goal is associated with a computer social network of the user or an advertiser.

28. The method of claim 20 , further comprising recommending an amount of a second activity to be performed by the user, wherein the second location determined based on the first activity and a distance between the first location and the second location, wherein the second activity is determined based on a distance between the first location and the second location.

29. The method of claim 20 , wherein the monitoring device is wearable by a user.
