Abstract

A stack-fold implement having a central bulk fill hopper assembly is provided. The bulk fill hopper assembly is mounted to the center frame section of the stack-fold implement and does not affect the narrowness of the stack-fold implement when it's in a stacked, transport position. The hopper assembly includes a pair of bulk fill hoppers or tanks supported by cradle that is in turn supported by a pair of wheels. The cradle is removably coupled to the center frame section by a plurality of rigid frame members.

Claims (18)

1. An agricultural implement comprising:

a tool bar adapted to be coupled to a prime mover, the tool bar having an inner section and at least one outer section;

a plurality of row units coupled to the inner and the at least one outer section of the tool bar, wherein the at least one outer section is coupled to the inner section in a manner that allows the at least one outer section to be raised to a position generally above the inner section;

a central fill bulk assembly having at least one hopper in flow communication with the plurality of row units to supply product to the row units, the central bulk till assembly connected to the tool bar rearward of the plurality of row units, and wherein the central bulk till assembly includes:

a tool bar connecting member;

a cradle supporting the at least one hopper;

a pair of wheels supporting the cradle above a surface;

hydraulic cylinders configured to raise and lower the cradle between a lowered, field position and a raised, transport position;

a pair of parallel linkages connected between the tool bar connecting member and the pair of wheels, wherein each parallel linkage includes an upper link and a lower link, and wherein the upper link and the lower link cooperate to maintain a consistent geometry of the cradle as the hydraulic cylinders raise and lower the cradle; each of the parallel linkages having a fixed length; and

a pair of support arms interconnected between the tool bar connecting member and the cradle, each support arm extending at an angle from the tool bar connecting member such that each support arm is not linearly aligned with the tool bar connecting member; the support arms having a fixed length.

2. The implement of claim 1 wherein the cradle includes a platform extending rearwardly of the at least one bulk fill hopper, and further comprising a ladder coupled to the platform.

3. The implement of claim 1 further comprising a first hopper and a second hopper supported by the cradle.

4. The implement of claim 1 further comprising an air blower mounted beneath the at least one bulk fill hopper.

5. The implement of claim 1 wherein a lowermost position of the pair of support arms is above an uppermost portion of the pair of parallel linkages throughout a range of motion of the pair of parallel linkages.

6. The implement of claim 1 further comprising a Y-beam having a first end coupled to the cradle and a second end coupled to the tool bar connecting member.

7. The implement of claim 1 wherein the plurality of row units includes one of 12 row units or 16 row units.

8. The implement of claim 1 further comprising first and second knuckles mounted to the tool bar connecting member, and wherein the parallel linkages and the support arms are connected to the tool bar connecting member via a respective one of the first and second knuckles.

9. The implement of claim 1 wherein each hydraulic cylinder is interconnected between a respective one of a first and second knuckles and a respective one of the lower links of the pair of parallel linkages.
