Abstract

Some embodiments include a system, method, apparatus and means for managing information associated with risk. In some embodiments, information associated with risk is collected, analyzed, stored, and disseminated. According to some embodiments, the information associated with risk is utilized to identify risk.

Claims (64)

1. A method, comprising:

receiving information from one of a plurality of sources;

generating an intermediate output file having a predetermined format;

comparing, using a processor, portions of the intermediate output file with a set of risk data to determine a risk relevancy of information in the intermediate output file;

tagging the portions of the intermediate output file having a desired risk relevancy;

determining, by the processor, the tagged portions of the intermediate output file that are redundant with data previously stored in a database by comparing the tagged portions of the intermediate output file with the data previously stored in the database, wherein determining the tagged portions that are redundant comprises assigning a redundancy metric to the tagged portions based on the comparison; and

storing the tagged portions of the intermediate output file that are determined not to be redundant in the database.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein the redundancy metric indicates a level of similarity between the tagged portions and the data previously stored in the database.

3. The method of claim 1 , wherein the storing further comprises:

storing the tagged portions of the intermediate output file that are determined not to be redundant in a data structure arranged to facilitate the identification of risk.

4. The method of claim 1 , wherein the information is received from a web site, the method further comprising:

monitoring the web site for a change; and

extracting the information from the web site.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving second information from a second of a plurality of sources;

determining that the second of a plurality of sources is a pre-qualified source; and

directly storing the second information in the database without further determining a risk relevancy of the second information.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

determining the redundancy metric for the tagged portions as a whole.

7. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving a search request from a user, the search request having a search term specifying at least one of an individual name or an entity name;

searching the database for the search term; and

returning a search result to the user, the search result including risk information associated with the search term.

8. The method of claim 1 , wherein the tagged portions of the intermediate output file that are determined to be redundant meet or exceed a redundancy metric threshold.

9. The method of claim 1 , further comprising:

generating an alert notification if the tagged portions of the intermediate output file meet predetermined alert criteria.

10. The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

automatically transmitting the alert notification to at least a first predetermined recipient.

11. A system, comprising:

a processor; and

a storage device in communication with the processor and storing instructions adapted to be executed by said processor to:

receive information from one of a plurality of sources;

generate an intermediate output file having a predetermined format;

compare portions of the intermediate output file with a set of risk data to determine a risk relevancy of information in the intermediate output file;

tag the portions of the intermediate output file having a desired risk relevancy;

determine the tagged portions of the intermediate output file that are redundant with data previously stored in a database by comparing the tagged portions of the intermediate output file with the data previously stored in the database, wherein determining the tagged portions that are redundant comprises assigning a redundancy metric to the tagged portions based on the comparison; and

store the tagged portions of the intermediate output file that are determined not to be redundant in the database.

12. At least one non-transitory, computer-readable medium comprising instructions, that when executed by at least one processor, cause a machine to:

receive information from one of a plurality of sources;

generate an intermediate output file having a predetermined format;

compare portions of the intermediate output file with a set of risk data to determine a risk relevancy of information in the intermediate output file;

tag the portions of the intermediate output file having a desired risk relevancy; and

determine the tagged portions of the intermediate output file that are redundant with data previously stored in a database by comparing the tagged portions of the intermediate output file with the data previously stored in the database, wherein determining the tagged portions that are redundant comprises assigning a redundancy metric to the tagged portions based on the comparison; and

store the tagged portions of the intermediate output file that are determined not to be redundant in the database.

13. The at least one non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, that when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the machine to:

compare the tagged portions of the intermediate output file with data previously stored in the database to determine that the tagged portions are not redundant.

14. The at least one non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the instructions that cause the machine to store the tagged portion further cause the machine to:

store the tagged portions in a data structure arranged to facilitate the identification of risk.

15. The at least one non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the information is received from a web site, wherein the instructions, that when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the machine to:

monitor the web site for a change; and

extract the information from the web site.

16. The at least one non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, that when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the machine to:

receive second information from a second of a plurality of sources;

determine that the second of a plurality of sources is a pre-qualified source; and

store the second information directly in the database without further determining a risk relevancy of the second information.

17. The at least one non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, that when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the machine to:

delete portions of the intermediate file lacking a desired risk relevancy.

18. The at least one non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, that when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the machine to:

receive a search request from a user, the search request having a search term specifying at least one of an individual name or an entity name;

search the database for the search term; and

return a search result to the user, the search result including risk information associated with the search term.

19. The at least one non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 18 , wherein the search request and the search results are provided via a network interface.

20. The at least one non-transitory, computer-readable medium of claim 12 , wherein the instructions, that when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the machine to:

generate an alert notification if the tagged portions of the intermediate output file meet predetermined alert criteria.
