Abstract

A glow plug includes a heating rod ( 11 ), a plug body, a mounting device for mounting the heating rod, permitting axial translation movements of the heating rod relative to the plug body, a load sensor which is interposed between the heating rod and the plug body, and an electrical link, called the sensor link ( 71 ), which includes at least one signal line ( 74 ). The sensor link includes an earth conductive layer ( 82 ) which is interposed radially between the electrical power supply link of the heating rod and each signal line, to form a screening.

Claims (21)

1. Glow plug comprising:

a heating rod ( 11 , 11 ′) which extends longitudinally according to an axis, called the principal axis, and having an extremity, called the proximal extremity ( 38 ), which is equipped with an electrical connection with an electrical link ( 12 , 98 ) for electrical power supply to the heating rod,

a plug body ( 13 ), forming a housing, called a receiving housing ( 14 ), receiving the heating rod, the latter having a distal portion which extends axially, projecting beyond the plug body,

a mounting device ( 48 ) for mounting the heating rod in said receiving housing ( 14 ), this mounting device being arranged to permit axial translation movements of the heating rod relative to the plug body,

a load sensor ( 17 , 67 ) which is interposed in a proximal zone between the heating rod and the plug body, in such a way that the axial translation movements of the heating rod relative to the plug body generate axial compression and/or traction stresses in said load sensor,

an electrical link, called the sensor link ( 71 ), which extends in the plug body between the load sensor and a proximal portion of the plug body, said sensor link ( 71 ) including:

at least one conductive line, called the signal line ( 74 ), which is connected to at least one sensitive element of the load sensor for transmitting the signals supplied by the load sensor,

and an earth conductive layer ( 82 ) which is interposed radially between said electrical power supply link ( 12 , 98 ) of the heating rod and each signal line ( 74 ),

characterized in that the sensor link ( 71 ) extends along and entirely on one side of the principal axis ( 41 ) of the heating rod, and in that the earth conductive layer ( 82 ) is radially inside each signal line ( 74 ).

2. Glow plug according to claim 1 , characterized in that the sensor link ( 71 ) is in the form of a multilayer conductor comprising a support layer ( 72 ), of an electrically insulating material, having a first face ( 73 ) facing radially towards the exterior of the principal axis ( 41 ) of the heating rod and carrying each signal line ( 74 ), and a second face ( 79 ) facing radially towards the principal axis ( 41 ) of the heating rod and carrying said earth conductive layer ( 82 ).

3. Glow plug according to claim 2 , characterized in that said earth conductive layer ( 82 ) extends in width at least substantially throughout the width of the support layer ( 72 ).

4. Glow plug according to claim 2 , characterized in that it also includes at least one earth conductive line ( 81 ) which extends on said first face and around each signal line ( 74 ) so as to form a peripheral screening around said signal line ( 74 ).

5. Glow plug according to claim 4 , characterized in that said earth conductive layer ( 82 ) and each earth conductive line ( 81 ) are connected to the electrical earth of the metal plug body.

6. Glow plug according to claim 2 , characterized in that each signal line ( 74 ) and said earth conductive layer ( 82 ) are in the form of metallic tracks which are deposited respectively on the faces of the support layer ( 72 ), and in that the multilayer conductor includes a layer ( 83 ) of insulant covering each conductive track carried by said first face.

7. Glow plug according to claim 2 , characterized in that said support layer ( 72 ) carries, on said first face, a single signal line ( 74 ).

8. Glow plug according to claim 2 , characterized in that said multilayer conductor ( 71 ) is flexible in flexion.

9. Glow plug according to claim 2 , characterized in that said load sensor ( 17 , 67 ) is a tubular sleeve including at least one piezoelectric washer, one signal conductive washer, and one earth conductive washer, in that the support layer ( 72 ) carries, on said first face, a single signal line ( 74 ) which is connected to the signal washer via a conductive bushing ( 77 ) which is formed through the thickness of the support layer ( 72 ) and at its distal extremity, in that said earth conductive layer ( 82 ) has a distant extremity of said bushing and is connected to said earth conductive washer.

10. Glow plug according to claim 1 , characterized in that each signal line ( 74 ) and said earth conductive layer ( 82 ) are connected to an electronic circuit for processing the signal which is carried at a proximal extremity of the plug body.

11. Glow plug according to claim 3 , characterized in that it also includes at least one earth conductive line ( 81 ) which extends on said first face and around each signal line ( 74 ) so as to form a peripheral screening around said signal line ( 74 ).

12. Glow plug according to claim 11 , characterized in that said earth conductive layer ( 82 ) and each earth conductive line ( 81 ) are connected to the electrical earth of the metal plug body.

13. Glow plug according to claim 2 , characterized in that each signal line ( 74 ) and said earth conductive layer ( 82 ) are connected to an electronic circuit for processing the signal which is carried at a proximal extremity of the plug body.
