Abstract

A method of using a silk derived medical device in a two stage breast reconstruction procedure.

Claims (6)

1 . A method for using a silk derived bioresorbable scaffold in a two stage breast reconstruction surgical procedure in a patient that has had a mastectomy, the method comprising the steps of:

(a) implanting a tissue expander in the patient;

(c) implanting a silk derived bioresorbable scaffold in the vicinity of the tissue expander;

(c) removing the tissue expander, and;

(d) implanting a breast implant in the patient.

2 . The method of claim 1 wherein the breast implant is implanted into a pocket created by the tissue expander.
