Abstract

Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, for surreptitiously installing, monitoring, and operating software on a remote computer controlled wireless communication device are described. One aspect includes a control system for communicating programming instructions and exchanging data with the remote computer controlled wireless communication device. The control system is configured to provide at least one element selected from the group consisting of: a computer implemented device controller; a module repository in electronic communication with the device controller; a control service in electronic communication with the device controller; an exfiltration data service in electronic communication with the device controller configured to receive, store, and manage data obtained surreptitiously from the remote computer controlled wireless communication device; and a listen-only recording service in electronic communication with the device controller.

Claims (45)

1. A method for unauthorized surreptitious monitoring and, surreptitious control of, a remote wireless computer controlled communication device, comprising receiving surreptitiously at said remote computer controlled wireless communication device and installing surreptitiously and without authorization on said remote computer controlled wireless communication device computer program instructions from a control system, said computer program instructions being configured to enable at least one of an unauthorized surreptitious monitoring, unauthorized surreptitious controlling, or unauthorized surreptitious communications function on said remote computer controlled wireless communication device, said computer program instructions being constructed according to characteristics of said computer controlled wireless communications device such that said computer program instructions are surreptitiously installed and accepted by said computer controlled wireless communication device as if authorized and said computer program instructions include a module component configured to surreptitiously monitor at least one aspect of the operation of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device; and the user of said device is unaware of said surreptitiously receiving and installing surreptitiously and without authorization on said remote computer controlled wireless communication device computer program instructions from said control system

wherein said module component includes a selective router component configured to surreptitiously monitor and manage communications of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device;

Said selective router component is configured to surreptitiously control said communications of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

2. The method of claim 1 , wherein said router component is configured to surreptitiously exfiltrate data from said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

3. The method of claim 2 , wherein said computer program instructions include a control component configured to manage surreptitious exfiltration of data from said remote computer controlled wireless device.

4. The method of claim 3 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to store information that has been gathered surreptitiously from said remote computer controlled wireless communication device.

5. The method of claim 1 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to surreptitiously control at least one aspect of the operation of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

6. The method of claim 5 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to surreptitiously exfiltrate data related to at least one aspect of the operation of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein said computer program instructions include a control component configured to manage surreptitious deployment and operation of the components of a monitored device client.

8. The method of claim 7 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to surreptitiously exfiltrate data related to at least one aspect of the operation of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

9. The method of claim 7 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to surreptitiously control at least one aspect of the operation of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to exfiltrate stored information that has been gathered surreptitiously from said remote computer controlled wireless communication device.

11. The method of claim 1 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to surreptitiously control at least one aspect of the operation of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to surreptitiously control stored information that has been gathered surreptitiously from said remote computer controlled wireless communication device.

13. The method of claim 11 , wherein said computer program instructions include a control component configured to control surreptitious deployment and operation of the components of said remote wireless computer controlled communications device.

14. A method for unauthorized surreptitious monitoring and, surreptitious control of, a remote computer controlled wireless communication device, comprising sending surreptitiously from a control system to said remote computer controlled wireless communication device and installing surreptitiously without authorization on said remote computer controlled wireless computer program instructions configured to enable at least one of an unauthorized surreptitious monitoring, unauthorized surreptitious controlling, or unauthorized surreptitious communications function on said remote computer controlled wireless communication device, said computer program instructions being constructed according to characteristics of said computer controlled wireless communications device, such that said computer program instructions are installed and accepted by said computer controlled wireless communication device as if authorized; said computer program instructions including a module component configured to surreptitiously monitor at least one aspect of the operation of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device; and the user of said device is unaware of said surreptitiously sending and surreptitiously installing without authorization on said remote computer controlled wireless communication device computer program instructions from said control system

wherein said module component includes a selective router component configured to surreptitiously monitor and manage communications of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device;

said selective router component is configured to surreptitiously control said communications of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein said router component is configured to surreptitiously exfiltrate data from said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein said computer program instructions include a control component configured to manage surreptitious exfiltration of data from said remote computer controlled wireless device.

17. The method of claim 16 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to store information that has been gathered surreptitiously from said remote computer controlled wireless communication device.

18. The method of claim 14 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to surreptitiously control at least one aspect of the operation of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

19. The method of claim 18 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to surreptitiously exfiltrate data related to at least one aspect of the operation of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

20. The method of claim 14 , wherein said computer program instructions include a control component configured to manage surreptitious deployment and operation of the components of a monitored device client.

21. The method of claim 20 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to surreptitiously exfiltrate data related to at least one aspect of the operation of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

22. The method of claim 20 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to surreptitiously control at least one aspect of the operation of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

23. The method of claim 22 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to exfiltrate stored information that has been gathered surreptitiously from said remote computer controlled wireless communication device.

24. The method of claim 14 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to surreptitiously control at least one aspect of the operation of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

25. The method of claim 24 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to surreptitiously control stored information that has been gathered surreptitiously from said remote computer controlled wireless communication device.

26. The method of claim 24 , wherein said computer program instructions include a control component configured to control surreptitious deployment and operation of the components of said remote wireless computer controlled communications device.

27. A system for unauthorized surreptitious monitoring and, surreptitious control of, a remote computer controlled wireless communication device, comprising: a control system configured to surreptitiously establish communication with said device and to surreptitiously relay unauthorized computer program instructions and data to said device; a surreptitious installer including computer program instructions configured to enable at least one of an unauthorized surreptitious monitoring, unauthorized surreptitious controlling, or unauthorized surreptitious communications function on said remote computer controlled wireless communication device such that said computer program instructions are surreptitiously installed and accepted by said computer controlled wireless communication device as if authorized; said computer program instructions including a module component configured to surreptitiously monitor at least one aspect of the operation of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device and the user of said device is unaware of said unauthorized surreptitious communication, installation, and surreptitiously monitoring, controlling, or communications

wherein said module component includes a selective router component configured to surreptitiously monitor and manage communications of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device;

said selective router component is configured to surreptitiously control said communications of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

28. The system of claim 27 , wherein said router component is configured to surreptitiously exfiltrate data from said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

29. The system of claim 28 , wherein said computer program instructions include a control component configured to manage surreptitious exfiltration of data from said remote computer controlled wireless device.

30. The system of claim 29 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to store information that has been gathered surreptitiously from said remote computer controlled wireless communication device.

31. The system of claim 27 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to surreptitiously control at least one aspect of the operation of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

32. The system of claim 31 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to surreptitiously exfiltrate data related to at least one aspect of the operation of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

33. The system of claim 27 , wherein said computer program instructions include a control component configured to manage surreptitious deployment and operation of the components of a monitored device client.

34. The system of claim 33 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to surreptitiously exfiltrate data related to at least one aspect of the operation of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

35. The system of claim 33 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to surreptitiously control at least one aspect of the operation of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

36. The system of claim 35 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to exfiltrate stored information that has been gathered surreptitiously from said remote computer controlled wireless communication device.

37. The system of claim 27 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to surreptitiously control at least one aspect of the operation of said remote wireless computer controlled communication device.

38. The system of claim 37 , wherein said computer program instructions include a module component configured to surreptitiously control stored information that has been gathered surreptitiously from said remote computer controlled wireless communication device.

39. The system of claim 37 , wherein said computer program instructions include a control component configured to control surreptitious deployment and operation of the components of said remote wireless computer controlled communications.
