Abstract

A topical composition for application to aging skin, including an effective amount of S-acyl glutathione derivative of formula (I) wherein R 1 consists of an unsaturated or saturated C 16 acyl group and R 2 is a hydrogen, aliphatic or aromatic acyl group; and a dermatologically acceptable carrier. Preferred compositions include about 1.0% to about 3.0% by weight of S-palmitoyl glutathione.

Claims (26)

1. A topical composition for application to aging skin, comprising:

an effective amount of S-palmitoyl glutathione of formula

a mixture of magnesium aspartate, zinc gluconate and copper gluconate; and

a dermatologically acceptable water-based carrier.

2. The topical composition of claim 1 , wherein the S-palmitoyl glutathione is present from about 0.01% to about 20% by weight.

3. The topical composition of claim 2 , wherein the S-palmitoyl glutathione is present from about 0.1% to about 5% by weight.

4. The topical composition of claim 3 , wherein the S-palmitoyl glutathione is present from about 1.0% to about 3.0% by weight.

5. The topical composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises an oil in water emulsion.

6. A topical composition for application to aging skin comprising:

about 0.01% to about 20% by weight of S-palmitoyl glutathione;

a mixture of magnesium aspartate, zinc gluconate and copper gluconate;

a dermatologically acceptable water-based carrier having about 0.01% to about 15% by weight of at least one emulsifier, and water.

7. The topical composition of claim 6 , wherein the S-palmitoyl glutathione is present from about 0.1% to about 5% by weight.

8. The topical composition of claim 7 , wherein the S-palmitoyl glutathione is present from about 1.0% to about 3.0% by weight.

9. A topical composition for application to aging skin, comprising:

an effective amount of S-acyl glutathione derivative of formula (I)

wherein R 1 consists of a saturated C 16 acyl group and R 2 is a hydrogen;

a mixture of magnesium aspartate, zinc gluconate and copper gluconate; and

a dermatologically acceptable water-based carrier.

10. The composition of claim 9 , wherein the S-acyl glutathione derivative is present from about 0.01% to about 20% by weight.

11. The composition of claim 10 , wherein the S-acyl glutathione derivative is present from about 0.1% to about 5% by weight.

12. The composition of claim 11 , wherein the S-acyl glutathione derivative is present from about 1.0% to about 3.0% by weight.

13. The composition of claim 9 , wherein the composition comprises an oil in water emulsion.

14. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition comprises a cream.

15. The composition of claim 6 , wherein the composition comprises a cream.

16. The composition of claim 9 , wherein the composition comprises a cream.
