writing a number of portions of the data in the buffer to a number of memory devices in the memory system, wherein the buffer allocates data from the buffer to the number of memory devices in response to receiving the number of notifications from the number of memory devices that indicate each of the number of memory devices are ready to receive and write data.

10. The method of claim 9 , wherein writing the number of portions of the data in the buffer to the number of memory devices includes writing the number of portions of data to the number of memory devices in an order in which the number of notifications from the number of memory devices are received by the buffer.

11. The method of claim 9 , wherein the method includes performing wear operations on at least one of the number of memory devices.

12. The method of claim 9 , wherein the method includes performing an error correction (ECC) operation on the data prior to writing the data to the buffer.

13. The method of claim 9 , wherein writing data from the host to the buffer includes writing data to the buffer in increments that are the size of a NAND page.

14. The method of claim 9 , wherein writing the number of portions of the data in the buffer to the number of memory devices includes writing the number of portions of data in NAND page increments.

15. A method for managing data in a memory system, comprising:

receiving data from a host at a buffer in the memory system;

writing the data to memory cell of the buffer in the memory system;

generating a notification with a locally intelligent memory device that indicates the locally intelligent memory device is ready to receive data from the buffer;

receiving, at the buffer, the notification from the locally intelligent memory device in the memory system that the memory device is ready to receive data at a next available address in the memory device;

allocating, via the buffer, data at a next available data address in the buffer to the memory device;

storing a logical address of a portion of the data stored at the next available data address of the buffer and a physical address of the next available address in the memory device;

sending the portion of data stored at the next available data address of the buffer to the memory device; and

writing the portion of data to the next available address in the memory device.

16. The method of claim 15 , wherein the method includes determining, by the memory device, the next available address in the memory device that will reduce an amount of wear on the memory device.

17. The method of claim 15 , wherein the method includes storing the logical address of the portion of the data and the physical address of the portion of data in a transaction table.

18. The method of claim 17 , wherein the method includes reading the portion of data by locating the portion of data in the memory device using the logical address and physical address of the portion of data stored in the transaction table.

19. The method of claim 18 , wherein reading the portion of data includes sending the portion of data directly from the memory device to the host.

20. The method of claim 18 , wherein reading the portion of data includes writing the portion of data to a read buffer and sending the portion of data from the read buffer to the host.

21. An apparatus, comprising:

a number of memory devices comprising a number of groups of memory cells; and

a buffer coupled to the number of memory devices and configured to:

receive data from a host and write the data to a virtual pool of data in the buffer;

generate a notification with one of the number of memory devices that indicates the one of the number of memory devices is ready to receive data from the buffer;

allocate at least a portion of the data in the buffer to one of the number of memory devices in response to receiving the notification that the one of the number of memory devices is ready to receive data; and

send the portion of the data in the virtual pool to the one of the number of memory devices in response to the portion of the data being allocated to the one of the number of memory devices.

22. The apparatus of claim 21 , wherein the one of the number of memory devices is configured to send another notification to the buffer that includes another next available address to write data when the one of the number of memory devices has completed all operations scheduled to be performed by the one of the number of memory devices.
