Abstract

A multi-function dry fire training device to be inserted into the chamber of a firearm, which comprises an illuminator for emitting, upon receiving a command from a controller, a beam of visible or invisible illumination from the barrel of the firearm, the beam being parallel to its central axis; a controller for controlling the functionality of the device including illumination of the illuminator, in response to activation of the firearm trigger; an actuator, being electrically connected to the controller, for activating the controller whenever being struck by the firearm striker and a power source for providing DC power to the controller and illuminator.

Claims (38)

1. A multifunction dry fire training device to be inserted into a chamber of a firearm, comprising:

an illuminator for emitting, upon receiving a command from a controller, a first beam of light, the first beam of light being centrally aligned with a barrel of a firearm;

a controller for controlling the functionality of the device including illumination of the illuminator, in response to activating a trigger of a firearm;

an actuator, being electrically connected to the controller, for activating the controller;

a power source for providing DC power to the controller and to the illuminator; and

a hollow body which comprises

a first casing which comprises a first securing mechanism, and

a second casing for housing the illuminator, the second casing comprising a second securing mechanism, the second securing mechanism being connected to the first securing mechanism, and the second casing being electrically connected to the first casing;

an insulating sleeve containing said power source, for readily preventing contact of the power source with the first or second casing; and

two spring-like biases situated at opposite sides of said power source and on a long central axis of the hollow body, for allowing said power source to move when a firearm striker strikes the actuator.

2. A device according to claim 1 , in which the first beam of light has a predominant wavelength of approximately 635 nm.

3. A device according to claim 1 , further comprising a collimator for focusing the emitted beams on a target.

4. A device according to claim 1 , in which the illuminator includes a light emitting diode for emitting at least one wavelength of light or a laser diode for emitting coherent stimulated electromagnetic radiation.

5. A device according to claim 1 , in which the actuator comprises:

a striking pad being capable of sustaining a plurality of strikes by a striker, without being pierced;

a conductive material for activating the control circuit;

an energy absorbing material for dampening strikes; and

a conductive end pin located within a bell shaped absorbent material, to contact the face of the controller.

6. A device according to claim 1 , in which the actuator is constructed from at least one crystalline formation, for converting the applied mechanical stress to electric current or to changes in conductivity, distinguishable by the controller.

7. A device according to claim 1 , in which the controller comprises a microcontroller, for allowing exact control of the illumination time and the delay time.

8. A device according to claim 7 , in which the illumination time ranges from 1 mSec to 15 mSec.

9. A device according to claim 1 , in which the controller is programmed to:

turn on the illuminator with a first trigger activation and turn off the illuminator with a second trigger activation, to align the sights; and

implement a delay after several trigger activations to simulate a magazine change.

10. A device according to claim 1 , in which the emitted light carries digitally coded information that modulates the illumination of the light.

11. A device according to claim 1 , in which the illuminator emits invisible wavelength to carry coded information.

12. A device according to claim 1 , in which the controller records a device history data within a memory.

13. A device according to claim 1 , in which a set of programs is set to run and determine the functionality and different operational modes of said device.

14. A device according to claim 13 , in which the actuator operates as a toggle switch for initiating changes in the operational mode.

15. A device according to claim 1 , further comprising a communication port, for communicating with the controller and the memory.

16. A device according to claim 1 , further comprising a collimator attached to, or integrally formed with the illuminator, for focusing light and/or electromagnetic radiation emitted from said illuminator.

17. A device according to claim 1 , in which the control circuit is biased using a standing flat spring.

18. A device according to claim 1 , further comprising a pneumatic element for allowing discharge of a dry fire training device.

19. A device according to claim 1 , further comprising an attachment element for securing said device to different barrel lengths.

20. A device according to claim 1 , further comprising a retaining pipe assembly.

21. A device according to claim 1 , of a front casing and a rear casing, being detachable from each other, wherein different rear casings include different functionalities.

22. A device according to claim 1 , further comprising a tube connected to the front end of the hollow member by threading, to allow connection of modular extensions.

23. A device according to claim 1 , in which one or more O-rings are placed along the tube, to prevent contact between a barrel and said hollow tube, while installing and using said tube.
