Abstract

An information processing apparatus is disclosed which includes: a storing element for storing content data; a managing element for managing preference data by which to determine preferences of a user; a reading element for reading the content data from the storing element in response to an instruction from the user; a sorting element for sorting the content data read by the reading element, in accordance with the preference data managed by the managing element; and a composing element for composing the content data sorted by the sorting element, into a single item ready to be handled by the user.

Claims (41)

1 . (canceled)

2 . An information processing apparatus of a user comprising:

circuitry configured to transmit a request to a server and receive at least titles of a plurality of content data from the server; and

a display configured to display a single document including the titles being sorted based on a user's preference of content genres.

3 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the circuitry

receives an input to designate a title among the displayed titles,

receives URLs (URL: Uniform Resource Locator) of the plurality of content data with the received titles,

downloads content data of the designated title based on a URL of the designated title, and

the display displays the content data.

4 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the user's preference of content genres is set by the user.

5 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the user's preference of content genres is automatically updated based on a quantity of downloads of content data corresponding to the content genres.

6 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the content data is text data of at least one of a book, magazine, manga, article, and news.

7 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 6 , wherein the content data is generated by dividing one whole data of a book, magazine, manga, article, or news into a plurality of content data.

8 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the information processing apparatus is a PDA or an eBook.

9 . The information processing apparatus according to claim 2 , wherein the display displays dates of downloads of the plurality of content data in the single document instead of the titles.

10 . A method implemented by an information processing apparatus of a user, comprising:

transmitting, via circuitry, a request to a server;

receiving, via the circuitry, at least titles of a plurality of content data from the server;

displaying, via a display, a single document including the titles being sorted based on a user's preference of content genres.

11 . The method according to claim 10 , further comprising:

receiving an input to designate a title among the displayed titles;

receiving URLs (URL: Uniform Resource Locator) of the plurality of content data with the received titles;

downloading content data of the designated title based on a URL of the designated title; and

displaying the content data.

12 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein the user's preference of content genres is set by the user.

13 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein the user's preference of content genres is automatically updated based on a quantity of downloads of content data corresponding to the content genres.

14 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein the content data is text data of at least one of a book, magazine, manga, article, and news.

15 . The method according to claim 14 , wherein the content data is generated by dividing one whole data of a book, magazine, manga, article, or news into a plurality of content data.

16 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein the information processing apparatus is a PDA or an eBook.

17 . The method according to claim 10 , wherein the display displays dates of downloads of the plurality of content data in the single document instead of the titles.

18 . A non-transitory computer-readable medium having computer-readable instructions thereon which when executed by a computer cause the computer to implement a method, comprising:

transmitting a request to a server;

receiving at least titles of a plurality of content data from the server;

displaying a single document including the titles being sorted based on a user's preference of content genres.

19 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium according to claim 18 , further comprising:

receiving an input to designate a title among the displayed titles;

receiving URLs (URL: Uniform Resource Locator) of the plurality of content data with the received titles;

downloading content data of the designated title based on a URL of the designated title; and

displaying the content data.

20 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium according to claim 18 , wherein the user's preference of content genres is set by the user.

21 . The non-transitory computer-readable medium according to claim 18 , wherein the user's preference of content genres is automatically updated based on a quantity of downloads of content data corresponding to the content genres.
