Abstract

A method for treating a patient having P.R.I.C.E. Syndrome is disclosed. The method includes administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist in an extended release dosage form, optionally in combination with a therapeutically effective amount of inositol and/or NAC.

Claims (14)

. A method for treating a patient having a psychiatric disorder comprising administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of an alpha- 2 adrenergic agonist in an extended release dosage form in combination with a therapeutically effective amount of inositol.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the psychiatric disorder is a form of ASD.

. The method of claim 2 , wherein the psychiatric disorder is P.R.I.C.E. Syndrome.

. The method of claim 1 wherein the alpha-2 adrenergic agonist is selected from the group consisting of clonidine and guanfacine.

. The method of claim 4 wherein the therapeutically effective amount of inositol is from about 4,500 mg to about 18,000 mg per day.

. The method of claim 5 wherein the alpha-2 adrenergic agonist is clonidine and the therapeutically effective amount of clonidine is from about 0.10 mg to about 0.40 mg per day.

. The method of claim 5 wherein the alpha-2 adrenergic agonist is guanfacine and the therapeutically effective amount of guanfacine is from about 1 mg to about 4 mg per day.

. The method of claim 1 , wherein the alpha-2 adrenergic agonist is in a dosage form selected from the group consisting of: a solid oral dosage form, a liquid oral dosage form, a transdermal patch, a nasal spray, an injection and a powder; and wherein the inositol is in a dosage form selected from the group consisting of: a solid oral dosage form, a liquid oral dosage form, a transdermal patch, a nasal spray, an injection and a powder.

. A method for treating a patient having a psychiatric disorder comprising administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist in an extended release dosage form in combination with a therapeutically effective amount of NAC.

. The method of claim 9 , further comprising administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of inositol.

. The method of claim 9 wherein the alpha-2 adrenergic agonist is in a dosage form selected from the group consisting of: a solid oral dosage form, a liquid oral dosage form, a transdermal patch, a nasal spray, an injection and a powder; and wherein the NAC is in a dosage form selected from the group consisting of: a solid oral dosage form, a liquid oral dosage form, a transdermal patch, a nasal spray, an injection and a powder.

. The method of claim 11 , wherein the therapeutically effective amount of NAC is between 600 mg and 3600 mg per day.

. The method of claim 11 , wherein the psychiatric disorder is a form of ASD.

. The method of claim 12 , wherein the psychiatric disorder is P.R.I.C.E. Syndrome.
