Abstract

A method for increasing the synthesis and accumulation of beta-alanylhistidine dipeptides, with a simultaneous increase in the accumulation of creatine, in bodily tissues of humans and animals is described. This is accomplished by causing an increase in the blood plasma concentrations of beta-alanine and creatine, or the blood plasma concentrations of beta-alanine, L-histidine and creatine, by the ingestion or infusion of a composition including beta-alanine, beta-alanine and creatine, or beta-alanine, L-histidine and creatine, or active derivatives thereof.

Claims (35)

1. A composition comprising a mixture of a creatine and a composition comprising an amino acid or an active derivative thereof selected from the group consisting of a beta-alanine, an ester of a beta-alanine and an amide of a beta-alanine.

2. The composition of claim 1 , further comprising an L-histidine.

3. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the beta-alanine further comprises a dipeptide, an oligopeptide, or a polypeptide.

4. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the creatine is a creatine monohydrate.

5. A dietary supplement comprising a mixture of a creatine and a composition comprising an amino acid or an active derivative thereof selected from the group consisting of a beta-alanine, an ester of a beta-alanine and an amide of a beta-alanine.

6. The dietary supplement of claim 5 in a unit dosage form.

7. The dietary supplement of claim 6 , wherein one dose comprises up to 99% by weight of beta-alanine.

8. The dietary supplement of claim 6 , wherein one dose comprises up to 98% by weight of L-histidine.

9. The dietary supplement of claim 5 in an injectable formulation.

10. A composition comprising a mixture of a carbohydrate and a composition comprising an amino acid or an active derivative thereof selected from the group consisting of a beta-alanine, an ester of a beta-alanine and an amide of a beta-alanine.

11. The composition of claim 10 , further comprising an L-histidine.

12. The composition of claim 10 , wherein the beta-alanine further comprises a dipeptide, an oligopeptide, or a polypeptide.

13. The composition of claim 10 , wherein the carbohydrate is a simple carbohydrate.

14. The composition of claim 13 , wherein the simple carbohydrate is a glucose.

15. The composition of claim 10 , further comprising creatine.

16. The composition of claim 11 , further comprising creatine.

17. A dietary supplement comprising a mixture of a carbohydrate and a composition comprising an amino acid or an active derivative thereof selected from the group consisting of a beta-alanine, an ester of a beta-alanine and an amide of a beta-alanine.

18. The dietary supplement of claim 17 in a unit dosage form.

19. The dietary supplement of claim 17 , wherein one dose comprises up to 99% by weight of beta-alanine.

20. The dietary supplement of claim 17 , wherein one dose comprises up to 99% by weight of a carbohydrate.

21. The dietary supplement of claim 17 in an injectable formulation.

22. A composition comprising a mixture of insulin and a composition comprising an amino acid or an active derivative thereof selected from the group consisting of a beta-alanine, an ester of a beta-alanine and an amide of a beta-alanine.
