Abstract

Individual users may log into the same online game from multiple different social networking platforms. The disclosed technology provides a way to unite users' accounts such that users that have logged into the online game from different social networking platforms can have their progress in the online game preserved regardless of which social networking platforms the user logged in from. Business intelligence about differences in the user's value when logging in from the different social networking platforms can be determined and incentivizing actions can be performed on the social networking platforms based on the business intelligence.

Claims (31)

1. A system for determining and acting on a user's value for an online game when the game is accessed from a first game platform and a second game platform, the system comprising:

one or more processors configured to execute computer program modules, the computer program modules comprising:

a federation module configured to identify the user that played the online game via the first game platform as the same user that played the online game via the second game platform;

a business intelligence module configured to determine for a first metric, the user's value for the online game when the game is accessed via the first game platform and to determine, for the first metric, the user's value for the online game when the game is accessed via the second game platform, wherein the user's value for the online game when the game is accessed via the first game platform reflects revenue generation for an operator of the online game by the first user when accessing the online game through the first game platform and wherein the user's value for the online game when the game is accessed via the second game platform reflects revenue generation for an operator of the online game by the first user when accessing the online game through the second game platform; and

a notification module configured to generate a first notification to the first game platform based on determinations for the first metric made by the business intelligence module, wherein the first notification is configured to entice the first user to access the online game through the first game platform rather than the second game platform based on the determined first metric.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the notification module is configured such that the first notification causes an indication of an action to be displayed on a notification area associated with the first user in the first game platform.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein:

the business intelligence module is further configured to determine for a second metric, the user's value for the online game when the game is accessed via the first game platform and to determine, for the second metric, the user's value for the online game when the game is accessed via the second game platform; and

the notification module is further configured to generate a second notification to the second game platform based on determinations for the second metric made by the business intelligence module; and,

wherein the first metric and the second metrics are different metrics.

4. The system of claim 3 , wherein the second metric comprises one or more of: revenue generated, virtual currency bought or sold, time logged into the game, time logged into the game platform, or number of friends or associates on the first and second game platforms.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the computer program modules further comprise a space module configured to execute an instance of a virtual space in which the online game is played, and to implement the instance of the virtual space to determine view information that defines a view of the virtual space for presentation to the first user, and facilitates transmission of the view information to a client computing platform associated with the first user to facilitate presentation of the view of the virtual space to the first user on the client computing platform.

6. The system of claim 1 , further comprising a game platform information module configured to aggregate game platform information that is received from the first and second game platforms such that game platform information about the first user received from the first game platform and the second game platform is aggregated for the first user to represent the first user across both the first game platform and the second game platform.

7. A computer-implemented method for determining a user's value across a plurality of platforms, the method being implemented in one or more physical processors, the method comprising:

uniting a first user's account in an online game across multiple game platforms including a first game platform and a second game platform, wherein the first user can access the online game through the first game platform or the second game platform;

determining a first value of the first user's interaction within or related to the online game for a first metric for a first game platform, wherein the first metric for the first game platform reflects revenue generation for an operator of the online game by the first user when accessing the online game through the first game platform;

determining a second value of the first user's interaction within or related to the online game for the first metric for a second game platform, wherein the first metric for the second game platform reflects revenue generation for the operator of the online game by the first user when accessing the online game through the second game platform;

performing an incentivizing action to entice the first user to access the online game through the first game platform rather than the second game platform based on the determined first and second values.

8. The method of claim 7 wherein performing an incentivizing action comprises:

determining which of the first and second game platforms to perform the incentivizing action on based on the determined first and second values; and

generating a notification to the determined game platform.

9. The method of claim 8 , wherein the notification causes an indication of an action to be displayed on a notification area associated with the first user in the determined game platform.

10. The method of claim 7 , further comprising executing an instance of a virtual space in which the online game is played, and implementing the instance of the virtual space to determine view information that defines a view of the virtual space to be presented to the user.

11. The method of claim 7 , further comprising performing an incentivizing action on a notification area associated with a second user, wherein the second user is associated with the first user, based on the determined first and second values of the first user's actions.

12. The method of claim 7 , further comprising performing an incentivizing action on the second game platform in response to an incentivizing action being performed on the first game platform.

13. The method of claim 7 , further comprising providing game platform information of the first user to a provider of the online game.

14. The method of claim 7 , further comprising

determining for a second metric, the user's value for the online game when the game is accessed via the first game platform and to determine, for the second metric, the user's value for the online game when the game is accessed via the second game platform; and

the notification module is further configured to generate a second notification to the second game platform based on determinations for the second metric made by the business intelligence module; and,

wherein the first metric and the second metrics are different metrics.

15. The method of claim 14 , wherein the second metric comprises one or more of: revenue generated, virtual currency bought or sold, time logged into the game, time logged into the game platform, or number of friends or associates on the first and second game platforms.
