Location-based wagering via remote devices

1. A system for location-based wagering, comprising:

a computer system including data network access, one or more processors and a memory storing one or more programs for execution by said one or more processors;

a betting module executed by the computer system and transforming the computer system into a specialized system for enabling and managing an online gaming service, the betting module including processes to:

receive a request to access the online gaming service from a mobile device thereby invoking an online wagering service, identify a user of the mobile device as a registered user through the mobile by requesting entry at the mobile device of at least one of a password, a pin code, or a biometric, determine a location of the mobile device used by the registered users and determine a jurisdiction associated with the location by receiving at least one of: GPS (Global Positioning System) data, network IP address information, or triangulation information from the mobile device, wherein the jurisdiction associated with the location of the mobile device is also determined based on the location of the mobile device, authorize the registered user and the mobile device being used by the registered user with access to the online wagering service including microbetting with the online gaming service based on the location of the mobile device and the identification of the user subject to any restrictions determined based on determining of the location of the mobile device and the jurisdiction associated with the location, wherein the location and the jurisdiction is used to determine if said online wagering service is allowed in the location and the jurisdiction that is determined by said online wagering system;

provide the registered user deemed authorized to use said online gaming service by the online wagering system with wagering data including fixed odds bets, pari-mutuel bets, and microbetting opportunities available on future outcomes from which the registered user can choose from throughout an online video game or live sporting event provided by the online gaming service;

determine whether other mobile devices and users authorized to engage in wagering are located nearby the mobile device provided with recent authorization to access the online gaming service to initiate gaming between the user of the mobile device and users of the other mobile devices when also located nearby for participation in a gaming event via said online gaming service; and

receive wagers from the registered user and users of the other mobile devices based on input entered on the mobile device and the other mobile devices in association with the future outcomes provided to the registered user.

2. The system of claim 1 , further comprising:

if a determination is made that a use of said online wagering service is allowed in the jurisdiction, determining prescribed limitations that exist in said jurisdiction regarding at least one of: a type and an amount of a bet as prescribed, by laws of said jurisdiction, and regulations of said jurisdiction, and based on prescribed limitations, displaying wagering options in a GUI (Graphical User Interface) via said mobile device that conform to at least one of said laws of said jurisdiction, and said regulations of said jurisdiction.

3. The system of claim 2 , wherein said processes further comprises processes for automatically generating proper disclosures to verify that a user is qualified to participate in wagering via said online wagering service in said jurisdiction.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein said processes further comprise processes for:

determining taxable events particular to wagering in said jurisdiction, based on said location; and

calculating said taxable events with respect to participating in wagering via said online wagering service in said jurisdiction.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein said mobile device and said other mobile devices comprise at least one of the following: a smartphone; a tablet computing device, a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), a laptop computer, or a wearable device.

6. A system for location-based wagering, comprising:

a wireless handheld device including data network access, one or more processors and memory storing one or more programs for execution by said one or more processors;

a betting module executed by the computer system and transforming the wireless handheld device into a specialized system for enabling and managing an online gaming service, the betting module including processes to:

receive a request to access the online gaming service from a mobile device thereby invoking an online wagering service, identify a user of the mobile device as a registered user through the mobile device by requesting entry at the mobile device of at least one of a password, a pin code, or a biometric, determine a location of the mobile device used by the registered users and determining a jurisdiction associated with the location by receiving at least one of: GPS data, network IP address information, or triangulation information from the mobile device, wherein the jurisdiction associated with the location of the mobile device is also determined based on the location of the mobile device, authorize the registered user and the mobile device being used by the registered user with access to the online wagering service including microbetting with the online gaming service based on the location of the mobile device and the identification of the user subject to any restrictions determined based on determining of the location of the mobile device and the jurisdiction associated with the location, wherein the location and the jurisdiction is used to determine if said online wagering service is allowed in the location and the jurisdiction that is determined by said online wagering system;

provide the registered user deemed authorized to use said online gaming service by the online wagering system with wagering data including fixed odds bets, pari-mutuel bets, and microbetting opportunities available on future outcomes from which the registered user can choose from throughout an online video game or live sporting event provided by the online gaming service;

determine whether other mobile devices and users authorized to engage in wagering are located nearby the mobile device provided with recent authorization to access the online gaming service to initiate gaming between the user of the mobile device and users of the other mobile devices when also located nearby for participation in a gaming event via said online gaming service; and

receive wagers from the registered user and users of the other mobile devices based on input entered on the mobile device and other mobile devices in association with the future outcomes provided to the registered user.

The system of claim 6 , wherein said processes further comprises processes for determining taxable events particular to said wagering in said jurisdiction, based on said location, and calculating said taxable events with respect to participating in said wagering via said online wagering service in said jurisdiction.

8. The system of claim 6 wherein said mobile device comprises a smartphone.

9. The system of claim 6 wherein said mobile device comprises a tablet computing device.

10. The system of claim 6 wherein said mobile devices comprises a laptop computer.

11. The system of claim 6 wherein said mobile device comprises a wearable device comprising data-enabled eyeglasses.

12. The system of claim 6 wherein said mobile device comprises a wearable device comprising a head mounted display.

13. The system of claim 6 wherein said mobile device comprises a gaming console.

14. The system of claim 6 wherein said mobile device comprises a set-top box.

15. The system of claim 6 wherein said mobile device comprises a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant).

16. The system of claim 6 , wherein said mobile device comprise at least one of: a smartphone; a tablet computing device, a PDA (Personal Digital Assistant), a laptop computer, a set-top box, a gaming console, and a wearable device.
