HANGING PLATFORM ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME
A hanging platform assembly for use in accessing a column section is provided. The hanging platform assembly can include a walkway configured to allow a user to walk about the hanging platform; a backing extending vertically from the walkway at a point distal from the stacked column; an angled post extending at an angle down and away from the walkway; a foot pad disposed on the end of the angle post, the foot pad configured to rest against the outer surface of the stacked column; a vertical post connected the walkway and the angled post; and an adapter disposed on the walkway at a point proximal the outer surface of the stacked column, wherein the adapter is configured to mate with a clip attached to the column section, such that when a downward force is applied to the walkway, the clip is configured to prevent the walkway from falling to the ground.
1 . A hanging platform assembly for use in accessing a column section, the hanging platform assembly comprising:
a walkway configured to allow a user to walk about the hanging platform;
a backing extending vertically from the walkway at a point distal from the stacked column;
an angled post extending at an angle down and away from the walkway;
a foot pad disposed on the end of the angle post, the foot pad configured to rest against the outer surface of the stacked column;
a vertical post connected the walkway and the angled post; and
an adapter disposed on the walkway at a point proximal the outer surface of the stacked column, wherein the adapter is configured to mate with a clip attached to the column section, such that when a downward force is applied to the walkway, the clip is configured to prevent the walkway from falling to the ground.
2 . The hanging platform assembly as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the clip is generally v-shaped.
3 . The hanging platform assembly as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the clip is welded onto the stacked column.
4 . The hanging platform assembly as claimed in claim 1 further comprising a backing strip attached to the outer surface of the column section, wherein the clip is welded onto the backing strip.
5 . The hanging platform assembly as claimed in claim 1 further comprising a clip pad attached to the outer surface of the column section, wherein the clip is welded onto the clip pad.
6 . The hanging platform assembly as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the foot pad is configured to disperse the weight of the hanging platform against the stacked column.

The hanging platform assembly as claimed in claim 1 , further comprising a vertical extension extending from the backing, the vertical extension having a plurality of arms extending outwards from the top of the vertical extension, wherein the plurality of arms are configured to support an external weather shelter.
8 . The hanging platform assembly as claimed in claim 7 , wherein the plurality of arms are substantially parallel with an outer edge of the walkway.
9 . The hanging platform assembly as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the hanging platform is configured to support the weight of a user without any portion of the hanging platform touching the ground.
10 . The hanging platform assembly as claimed in claim 1 further comprising handrails connected to the backing.
11 . The hanging platform assembly as claimed in claim 10 , wherein the handrails are configured to be adjustable in length, such that the platform can adjust for column sections having varying diameters.
12 . The hanging platform assembly as claimed in claim 10 , wherein the handrails are telescopic.
13 . A method for accessing a stacked column using the hanging platform assembly as claimed in claim 1 , the method comprising the steps of:
attaching a set of the clips to the stacked column; and
installing the hanging platform to the stacked column by inserting the adapter into a gap formed between the clip and the stacked column.
