Abstract

Methods and a system to provide telecommunications management services are provided. A method includes receiving a service request for change management or servicing a telecommunications equipment item, classifying the request to determine a policy associated with the request, determining customized workflows for executing the policy and servicing the request, identifying transactions required to service the request, and monitoring execution of the transactions until completion.

Claims (40)

1. A computer-implemented method, comprising:

receiving, by an enterprise computing system device in an enterprise network, a request to activate a telecommunication service for an equipment item in the enterprise network, wherein the equipment item is assigned to an employee of the enterprise, and the telecommunication service is provided by a telecommunication provider external to the enterprise;

determining, by the enterprise computing system, one or more policies for servicing the request based on a role of the employee and a type of telecommunication service;

implementing, by the enterprise computing system, transactions for completing the request including identifying at least one of an enterprise resource or a third-party resource for executing at least a portion of the one or more transactions;

dispatching, by the enterprise computing system, the transactions for execution including transmitting a service request to the external telecommunication provider and an internal request to one or more departments in the enterprise, and a queue of transactions that are to be executed by an automation system, the automation system downloading the transactions, translating the transactions to the syntaxes of a target system, connecting to a customer system, reporting results, and capturing system events;

monitoring, by the enterprise computing system, completion of the transactions by the external telecommunication provider and the one or more internal departments; and

in response to completion, notifying the employee assigned to the equipment item that access to the telecommunication service using the equipment item has been established.

2. The method of claim 1 where receiving a request includes receiving a request from a portal associated with a customer end user.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein classifying the request includes determining a type of request.

4. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining a policy associated with a request type and a profile associated with the user of the equipment item.

5. The method of claim 1 , further comprising determining a policy based on a type of request and an identity of the employee.

6. The method of claim 1 , further comprising implementing a workflow for obtaining approvals for the request including determining approval logic for the request.

7. The method of claim 1 , wherein the transactions include physical transactions that need to be completed.

8. A non-transitory computer readable medium storing instructions to cause a processor to perform operations comprising:

receiving, by an enterprise computing system device in an enterprise network, a request to activate a telecommunication service for an equipment item in the enterprise network, wherein the equipment item is assigned to an employee of the enterprise, and the telecommunication service is provided by a telecommunication provider external to the enterprise;

determining, by the enterprise computing system, one or more policies for servicing the request based on a role of the employee and a type of telecommunication service;

implementing, by the enterprise computing system, transactions for completing the request including identifying at least one of an enterprise resource or a third-party resource for executing at least a portion of the one or more transactions;

dispatching, by the enterprise computing system, the transactions for execution including transmitting a service request to the external telecommunication provider and an internal request to one or more departments in the enterprise, and a queue of transactions that are to be executed by an automation system, the automation system downloading the transactions, translating the transactions to the syntaxes of a target system, connecting to a customer system, reporting results, and capturing system events;

monitoring, by the enterprise computing system, completion of the transactions by the external telecommunication provider and the one or more internal departments; and

in response to completion, notifying the employee assigned to the equipment item that access to the telecommunication service using the equipment item has been established.

9. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , where receiving a request includes receiving a request from a portal associated with a customer end user.

10. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein classifying the request includes determining a type of request.

11. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , further comprising determining a policy associated with a request type and a profile associated with the user of the equipment item.

12. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , further comprising determining a policy based on a type of request and an identity of the employee.

13. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , further comprising implementing a workflow for obtaining approvals for the request including determining approval logic for the request.

14. The non-transitory computer readable medium of claim 8 , wherein the transactions include physical transactions that need to be completed.

15. An enterprise device in an enterprise network, comprising:

one or more processors configured to:

receive a request to activate a telecommunication service for an equipment item in the enterprise network, wherein the equipment item is assigned to an employee of the enterprise, and the telecommunication service is provided by a telecommunication provider external to the enterprise;

determine one or more policies for servicing the request based on a role of the employee and a type of telecommunication service;

implement transactions for completing the request including identifying at least one of an enterprise resource or a third-party resource for executing at least a portion of the one or more transactions;

dispatch the transactions for execution including transmitting a service request to the external telecommunication provider and an internal request to one or more departments in the enterprise, and a queue of transactions that are to be executed by an automation system, the automation system downloading the transactions, translating the transactions to the syntaxes of a target system, connecting to a customer system, reporting results, and capturing system events;

monitor completion of the transactions by the external telecommunication provider and the one or more internal departments; and

in response to completion, notify the employee assigned to the equipment item that access to the telecommunication service using the equipment item has been established.

16. The enterprise device of claim 15 , where receiving a request includes receiving a request from a portal associated with a customer end user.

17. The enterprise device of claim 15 , wherein classifying the request includes determining a type of request.

18. The enterprise device of claim 15 , the one or more processors further operable to determine a policy associated with a request type and a profile associated with the user of the equipment item.

19. The enterprise device of claim 15 , the one or more processors further operable to determine a policy based on a type of request and an identity of the employee.

20. The enterprise device of claim 15 , the one or more processors further operable to implement a workflow for obtaining approvals for the request including determining approval logic for the request.

21. The enterprise device of claim 15 , wherein the transactions include physical transactions that need to be completed.
