carbon,
wherein the carbon is present in the steel wire at a carbon content by weight C of 0.5%≦C≦0.6%, with C being expressed in %, and
wherein a maximum tensile strength R of the steel wire is given by
R≧A ·(920· C+ 500)/ d 1/2 ,
with R being expressed in MPa, with A=1 or greater, with R≧2950 MPa, and with d being a diameter of the steel wire expressed in mm.
14 . The steel wire according to claim 13 , wherein 0.5%≦C<0.6%.
15 . The steel wire according to claim 14 , wherein 0.5%<C<0.6%.
16 . The steel wire according to claim 13 , wherein 0.55%≦C≦0.6%.

32 . The steel wire according to claim 13 , wherein the steel wire is one of a plurality of steel wires arranged together to form a cord.
33 . The steel wire according to claim 13 , wherein the steel wire is embedded in a rubber matrix and is incorporated in a semi-finished product.
34 . A cord, comprising:
a plurality of steel wires, each steel wire including:
iron, and
carbon,
wherein the carbon is present in the steel wire at a carbon content by weight C of 0.5%≦C≦0.6%, with C being expressed in %, and
wherein a maximum tensile strength R of the steel wire is given by
R≧A ·(920· C+ 500)/ d 1/2 ,
with R being expressed in MPa, with A=1 or greater, with R≧2950 MPa, and with d being a diameter of the steel wire expressed in mm.
35 . A tyre, comprising:
at least one steel wire, each steel wire including:
iron, and
carbon,
wherein the carbon is present in the steel wire at a carbon content by weight C of 0.5%≦C≦0.6%, with C being expressed in %, and
wherein a maximum tensile strength R of the steel wire is given by
R≧A ·(920· C+ 500)/ d 1/2 ,
with R being expressed in MPa, with A=1 or greater, with R≧2950 MPa, and with d being a diameter of the steel wire expressed in mm.
36 . The tyre according to claim 35 , further comprising:
a carcass reinforcement,
wherein the tyre is for a heavy-duty type of vehicle, and
wherein the at least one steel wire is incorporated in the carcass reinforcement.
