Abstract

A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may transmit feedback information on an uplink control channel. The WTRU may also transmit in response to a trigger condition and instead of a transmission of scheduling information, in a transmission time interval (TTI) on the uplink control channel, a predetermined sequence. In the TTI, an uplink data channel may not transmitted by the WTRU.

Claims (61)

1. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:

a processor;

a receiver;

a transmitter; and

the processor and the transmitter are configured to transmit feedback information on an uplink control channel and to transmit scheduling information, wherein the scheduling information is transmitted periodically or non-periodically;

the transmitter is further configured to transmit, in a transmission time interval (TTI) on the uplink control channel in response to a trigger condition and instead of a transmission of scheduling information, a predetermined sequence;

wherein, in the TTI, an uplink data channel is not transmitted by the WTRU; and

the receiver and the processor are configured to receive an uplink grant subsequent to the transmitted predetermined sequence.

2. The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the transmission on the uplink control channel is at a lower power level than the uplink data channel.

3. The WTRU of claim 1 , wherein the WTRU is one of a high speed uplink packet access (HSUPA) WTRU or a Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) WTRU.

4. The WTRU of claim 1 further comprising:

the receiver configured to receive signaling information indicating which logical channel data will trigger the transmission of the predetermined sequence on the uplink control channel.

5. A network device comprising:

a processor;

a transmitter;

a receiver; and

the processor and the transmitter are configured to transmit, to a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), configuration information so that the WTRU transmits scheduling information, wherein the scheduling information is transmitted periodically or non-periodically;

the receiver configured to receive, in a transmission time interval (TTI) on an uplink control channel from the WTRU, a predetermined sequence; wherein the predetermined sequence is received instead of scheduling information based on a trigger that occurs in the WTRU;

wherein, in the TTI, an uplink data channel is not transmitted by the WTRU; and

the processor further configured to send, subsequent to the received predetermined sequence, an uplink grant to the WTRU.

6. The network device of claim 5 further comprising:

the processor further configured to send, to the WTRU, signaling information indicating which logical channel data will trigger transmission of the predetermined sequence on the uplink control channel.

7. The network device of claim 5 , wherein feedback information is received on the uplink control channel at a lower power level than the uplink data channel.

8. The network device of claim 5 , wherein feedback information is sent on the uplink control channel in response to the WTRU not being able to send uplink data on the uplink data channel.

9. The network device of claim 5 , wherein the network device is one of a base station, Node-B, serving Node-B, high speed uplink packet access (HSUPA) network device, or a Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) network device.

10. A method performed by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:

transmitting, by the WTRU, feedback information on an uplink control channel;

transmitting scheduling information, wherein the scheduling information is transmitted periodically or non-periodically;

transmitting, by the WTRU in a transmission time interval (TTI) on the uplink control channel in response to a trigger condition and instead of a transmission of scheduling information, a predetermined sequence;

wherein, in the TTI, an uplink data channel is not transmitted by the WTRU; and

receiving, by the WTRU, an uplink grant subsequent to the transmitted predetermined sequence.

11. The method of claim 10 , wherein the transmission on the uplink control channel is at a lower power level than the uplink data channel.

12. The method of claim 10 , wherein the WTRU is one of a high speed uplink packet access (HSUPA) WTRU or a Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) WTRU.

13. The method of claim 10 further comprising:

receiving, by the WTRU, signaling information indicating which logical channel data will trigger the transmission of the predetermined sequence on the uplink control channel.

14. A method performed by a network device, the method comprising:

transmitting, by the network device to a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU), configuration information so that the WTRU transmits scheduling information, wherein the scheduling information is transmitted periodically or non-periodically;

receiving, by the network device in a transmission time interval (TTI) on an uplink control channel from the WTRU, a predetermined sequence; wherein the predetermined sequence is received instead of scheduling information based on a trigger that occurs in the WTRU;

wherein, in the TTI, an uplink data channel is not transmitted by the WTRU; and

sending, by the network device subsequent to the received predetermined sequence, an uplink grant to the WTRU.

15. The method of claim 14 further comprising:

sending, by the network device to the WTRU, signaling information indicating which logical channel data will trigger transmission of the predetermined sequence on the uplink control channel.

16. The method of claim 14 , wherein feedback information is received on the uplink control channel at a lower power level than the uplink data channel.

17. The method of claim 14 , wherein feedback information is sent on the uplink control channel in response to the WTRU not being able to send uplink data on the uplink data channel.

18. The method of claim 14 , wherein the network device is one of a base station, Node-B, serving Node-B, high speed uplink packet access (HSUPA) network device, or a Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) network device.

19. A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) comprising:
