Abstract

The present invention provides for a derivative of monoterpene or sesquiterpene, such as a perillyl alcohol derivative. For example, the perillyl alcohol derivative may be a perillyl alcohol carbamate. The perillyl alcohol derivative may be perillyl alcohol conjugated with a therapeutic agent such as a chemotherapeutic agent. The present invention also provides for a method of treating a disease such as cancer, comprising the step of delivering to a patient a therapeutically effective amount of a derivative of monoterpene for sesquiterpene). The route of administration may vary, and can include, inhalation, intranasal, oral, transdermal, intravenous, subcutaneous or intramuscular injection.

Claims (7)

1. A composition comprising a perillyl alcohol carbamate, wherein the perillyl alcohol carbamate is perillyl alcohol conjugated dimethyl with celecoxib (DMC).

2. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition is administered before, during or after radiation.

3. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition is administered before, during or after the administration of a chemotherapeutic agent.

4. The composition of claim 1 , wherein the composition is administered by inhalation, intranasally, orally, intravenously, subcutaneously or intramuscularly.

5. The composition of claim 4 , wherein the composition is administered intranasally using an atomizer.

6. A process for making a perillyl alcohol carbamate comprising perillyl alcohol conjugated with dimethyl celecoxib (DMC), the process comprising the step of reacting a first reactant of perillyl chloroformate with a second reactant dimethyl celecoxib (DMC).

7. The process of claim 6 , wherein the perillyl chloroformate is prepared by reacting perillyl alcohol with phosgene.
