PAPER/ PLASTIC LAMINATE AND ELECTROMAGNETIC SHIELDING MATERIAL
A laminate material comprising a paper web and a polymeric film adhered to the paper web, the polymeric film comprising a biodegradable polymeric material that includes an organic additive.
1 . A laminate material comprising:
a paper web; and
a polymeric film adhered to the paper web, the polymeric film comprising a biodegradable polymeric material that includes an organic additive.
2 . The laminate material of claim 1 , further comprising a layer of conductive material.
3 . The laminate material of claim 2 , wherein the layer of conductive material is made of one or more of aluminum, copper, silver, nickel, gold, and silver.
4 . The laminate material of claim 1 , wherein the organic additive renders the polymeric film degradable upon exposure to oleophilic bacteria.
5 . A laminate material comprising:
a paper web; and
a polymeric film adhered to the paper web,
wherein the laminate material is configured to shield radiation having frequencies between 3 Hz and 300 GHz.
6 . The laminate material of claim 5 , further comprising a layer of conductive material.
7 . The laminate material of claim 6 , wherein the layer of conductive material has a thickness of between 3×10 −7 and 1×10 −3 inches.
8 . The laminate material of claim 5 , wherein the laminate material is configured to shield radiation having a frequency of 13.56 MHz.
9 . A laminate material comprising:
a paper web;
a polymeric film adhered to the paper web; and
a coating that increases resistance of a surface of the laminate material to one or more of scuffs and scratches.
10 . The laminate material of claim 9 , further comprising a layer of conductive material.
11 . The laminate material of claim 10 , wherein the layer of conductive material is a foil.
12 . The laminate material of claim 9 , wherein the coating is applied by employing one or more of five roll coating, UV curing, and electron beam curing.
13 . A laminate material comprising:
a paper web;
a polymeric film adhered to the paper web; and
a coating that increases receptivity of a surface of the laminate material to printing and marking inks.
14 . The laminate material of claim 13 , further comprising a layer of conductive material.
15 . The laminate material of claim 14 , wherein the layer of conductive material includes a pattern of meshes.
16 . The laminate material of claim 13 , wherein the coating is a topcoat of the laminate material.
17 . A laminate material comprising:
a paper web;
a polymeric film adhered to the paper web; and
a coating that includes an antimicrobial agent that is configured to destroy or inhibit the growth of microorganisms.
18 . The laminate material of claim 17 , further comprising a layer of conductive material.
19 . The laminate material of claim 18 , wherein the layer of conductive material is incorporated into the polymeric film.
20 . The laminate material of claim 17 , wherein the antimicrobial agent is one or more of an antibacterial agent, an antifungal agent, an antiviral agent, and an antiparasitic agent.
21 . A laminate material comprising:
a first paper web;
a polymeric film adhered to the first paper web;
a second paper web; and
a coating that increases resistance of a surface of the laminate material to one or more of water, grease, and oil.
22 . The laminate material of claim 21 , further comprising a layer of conductive material.
23 . The laminate material of claim 22 , wherein the layer of conductive material is situated between the polymeric film and the second paper web.
24 . The laminate material of claim 21 , wherein the coating prevents the laminate material from being damaged by one or more of water, grease, and oil.
25 . A security device capable of electromagnetically shielding an RFID smart chip, the security device comprising:
a dimensionally stable electromagnetic shielding laminate material comprising:
a paper web;
a polymeric film comprising a biodegradable polymeric material that includes an organic additive;
a layer of conductive material; and
a coating that includes an antimicrobial agent that is configured to destroy or inhibit the growth of microorganisms, and
a substrate positioned adjacent to the dimensionally stable electromagnetic shielding laminate material;
wherein the dimensionally stable electromagnetic shielding laminate material is configured to shield radiation having frequencies between 3 Hz and 300 GHz.
26 . The security device of claim 25 , wherein the dimensionally stable electromagnetic shielding laminate material further comprises:
a coating that increases resistance of a surface of the dimensionally stable electromagnetic shielding laminate material to one or more of scuffs and scratches;
a coating that increases receptivity of a surface of the dimensionally stable electromagnetic shielding laminate material to printing and marking inks; and
a coating that increases resistance of a surface of the dimensionally stable electromagnetic shielding laminate material to one or more of water, grease, and oil.
27 . The security device of claim 25 , wherein the substrate is one or more of wallpaper, paper of an envelope, a sleeve, a sheath, a holder, and a folder into which the RFID smart chip can be inserted.
