Abstract

Method and system for organizing and sharing content through experience are described. In one embodiment, content may be organized and shared among users through a specific experience. A method for sharing content in a network may include: collecting contents related to a specific experience from a specific user; generating an experience graph of the specific experience; enabling the specific user to invite other users to join the experience graph; and enabling each user inside the experience graph to share new content into the experience graph.

Claims (67)

1. A computer-implemented method of organizing data based on experiences, comprising:

creating a first experience entity representing a first experience, the first experience entity comprising one or more of attributes including a time, a location, or an activity of the first experience;

receiving a piece of data corresponding to contents related to the first experience;

creating a first link between the first experience entity and the piece of data;

creating a person entity for a person who shares the first experience;

creating a second link between the first experience entity and the person entity;

creating a third link between the first experience entity and a second experience entity that shares at least one of the attributes with the first experience entity;

storing the received data, the created entities, and the created links in a repository; and

allowing stored data to be accessed by a client device through one or more stored experience entities or one or more stored links.

2. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising

creating a group including one or more stored person entities for people, any two of the person entities being linked to a same stored experience entity,

wherein the piece of data is received from an external source containing data produced by one of the people.

3. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising

creating a group including one or more stored experience entities for which a value of a common attribute falls in a given range,

wherein the data to be accessed is limited to data associated with the experience entities in the group.

4. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising:

receiving a query from a client device for data, the query specifying a condition on one of the attributes; and

sending stored pieces of data as query results to the client device, the pieces of data being linked to stored experience entities comprising the one attribute that satisfies the condition.

5. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the receiving further comprises:

identifying a social media website on which the person who shares the experience has an account;

identifying contents in the account to which at least one of the attributes applies; and downloading the contents in the account into the repository.

6. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the piece of data is a video, a photo, a text note, a webpage link, or a music file.

7. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , further comprising

receiving a request from a client device corresponding to a second person entity that is already linked to the first experience entity,

wherein the person entity is created in response to the received request.

8. The computer-implemented method of claim 1 , wherein the person entity comprises one or more privacy settings that control the accessibility of the second link to the first experience entity.

9. A computer-readable storage medium whose contents are capable of causing a computer device with a processor and memory to perform a method of accessing data organized based on experiences, the method comprising:

submitting a piece of data to a server that manages a repository storing a first experience entity comprising one or more attributes including a time, a location, or an activity of a first experience,

wherein the piece of data represents contents related to the first experience,

wherein the server creates a first link between the first experience entity and the piece of data and stores the piece of data and the first link in the repository, and

wherein the repository further contains a second link between the first experience entity and a person entity corresponding to a person who shares the first experience and a third link between the first experience entity and a second experience entity that shares at least one of the attributes with the first experience entity; and

sending commands to the server for browsing the repository through exploring the experience entities and following the links.

10. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 9 , further comprising

sending a query to the server for data, the query specifying a condition on one of the attributes; and

receiving from the server pieces of data that are linked to the experience entities comprising the one attribute that satisfies the condition in response to the request.

A computer-implemented method of sharing contents related to a specific experience within an experience graph in a social network, the specific experience corresponding to a central node and the related contents corresponding to additional nodes connected to the central node in the experience graph, the experience graph configured to link the specific experience with the related contents, the method comprising:

collecting the contents related to the specific experience from a specific user device, wherein the specific experience is defined by at least one of a plurality of attributes;

generating the experience graph by linking the specific experience with the related contents, wherein the experience graph is traversable through the at least one of the plurality of attributes;

organizing the experience graph by classifying experiences into at least three categories, the at least three categories including past experience, current experience and planned future experience; and

enabling the specific user to search for all experiences at a specific location through the experience graph to generate search results,

wherein the search results include an experience at the specific location in at least one of the past experience, the current experience, and the planned future experience.

12. The computer-implemented method of claim 11 , further comprising

enabling the specific user to invite one or more additional users to join the experience graph,

wherein each user inside the experience graph has access to all contents inside the experience graph.

13. The computer-implemented method of claim 11 , further comprising

enabling each user device to share new content into the experience graph,

wherein the links between the specific experience and the related contents are automatically updated and reflected in the experience graph, and

wherein the new content is accessible through the experience graph by all users represented inside the experience graph.

14. The computer-implemented method of claim 11 , further comprising expanding the experience graph over time by automatically examining and extracting necessary attributes related to contextual groups of users represented inside the experience graph.

15. The computer-implemented method of claim 11 , further comprising enabling each user of the experience graph to navigate contents in the experience graph by using one or more attributes in the plurality of attributes.

16. The computer-implemented method of claim 11 , further enabling each user of the experience graph to browse other experiences of another user through the experience graph, if the browsing is enabled and allowed by another user's privacy settings.

17. The computer-implemented method of claim 11 , further comprising

updating the experience graph by downloading additional contents related to the specific experience from a plurality of services used by users represented inside the experience graph,

wherein the plurality of services comprises one or more from a group comprising live broadcast sites, social networks, photo hosting sites, and personal publishing platforms.

18. The computer-implemented method of claim 11 , further comprising

combining the experience graph with one or more other experience graph(s) by grouping the specific experience with experience(s) represented inside the one or more other experience graph(s),

wherein the grouped experiences have at least one common attribute from the plurality of attributes.

19. The computer-implemented method of claim 11 , further comprising:

connecting the experience graph with a particular user's existing social media account(s); and

updating the experience graph by bringing updates from the particular user's connected social media account(s).

A computer-implemented method of sharing contents related to a specific experience within an experience graph in a social network, the specific experience corresponding to a central node and the related contents corresponding to additional nodes connected to the central node in the experience graph, the experience graph configured to link the specific experience with the related contents, the method comprising:

generating the experience graph by linking the specific experience with the related contents,

wherein the specific experience is defined by at least one of a plurality of attributes, the plurality of attributes including a what attribute, a who attribute, a when attribute, and a where attribute, and

wherein the experience graph is traversable by the at least one of the plurality of attributes;

organizing the experience graph by grouping experiences into at least three categories, the at least three categories including past experience, current experience and planned future experience; and

enabling a user to search for all experiences at a specific location through the experience graph to generate search results,

wherein the search results include at least one experience in the past experience, the current experience and the planned future experience at the specific location.
