Abstract

The present embodiments provide an aviary that includes a floor, a roof, and at least one wall having a plenum to draw air adjacent the roof down the plenum toward the floor. At least one cage tower is disposed on the floor. At least one walkway is disposed adjacent the at least one cage tower and is configured to facilitate bird access to the at least one cage tower. A fan is disposed in flow communication with the plenum to circulate air in the aviary.

Claims (34)

1. An aviary comprising:

a floor;

a roof;

a plenum constructed and arranged to draw air adjacent the roof down the plenum toward the floor;

at least one cage tower disposed on the floor; and

a fan comprising a fan inlet and a fan outlet, wherein the fan inlet is disposed in flow communication with the plenum and the fan outlet directs air into an interior of the aviary.

2. The aviary of claim 1 , wherein the plenum further draws outside air into the aviary to create mixed air.

3. The aviary of claim 2 , further comprising a bottom space adjacent the floor, wherein the fan circulates the mixed air in a first direction through the bottom space.

4. The aviary of claim 3 , further comprising at least one solid floor and at least one grated floor disposed above the bottom space, wherein the fan further circulates the mixed air through the at least one grated floor and further circulates the mixed air above the at least one solid floor in a second direction opposite the first direction.

5. The aviary of claim 3 , wherein the at least one walkway is disposed above the at least one solid floor such that the fan circulates the mixed air around the at least one walkway in the second direction.

6. The aviary of claim 5 , wherein the at least one walkway comprises a ramp having an upper surface facing at least partially in the second direction such that the ramp is configured to create air turbulence.

7. The aviary of claim 1 further comprising a plurality of plenums spaced along the at least one wall.

8. The aviary of claim 1 , wherein the at least one cage tower comprises a nesting area, the fan circulating air through and below the nesting area.

9. The aviary of claim 1 , further comprising a plurality of cage towers, each cage tower comprising a nesting area, the fan circulating air through and below the nesting area of each cage tower.

10. The aviary of claim 1 , further comprising at least one walkway disposed adjacent the at least one cage tower configured to facilitate bird access to the at least one cage tower.

11. The aviary of claim 1 , further comprising a wall, wherein the plenum is disposed on or in said wall.

12. An aviary comprising:

a floor;

a roof;

a plenum constructed and arranged to draw air toward the floor;

at least one cage tower disposed on the floor;

at least one walkway disposed adjacent the at least one cage tower configured to facilitate bird access to the at least one cage tower; and

a fan comprising a fan inlet and a fan outlet, wherein the fan inlet is disposed in flow communication with the plenum and the fan outlet directs air into an interior of the aviary.

13. The aviary of claim 12 , wherein the plenum draws air from inside the aviary adjacent the roof toward the floor.

14. The aviary of claim 13 , further comprising a bottom space adjacent the floor, wherein the fan circulates the air in a first direction through the bottom space.

15. The aviary of claim 14 , further comprising at least one solid floor and at least one grated floor disposed above the bottom space, wherein the fan further circulates the air above the at least one solid floor in a second direction opposite the first direction.

16. The aviary of claim 15 , wherein the at least one walkway is disposed above the at least one solid floor such that the fan circulates the mixed air around the at least one walkway in the second direction.

17. The aviary of claim 15 , wherein the at least one walkway comprises a ramp having an upper surface facing at least partially in the second direction such that the ramp is configured to create air turbulence.

18. The aviary of claim 12 , wherein the plenum draws air from outside the aviary toward the floor.

19. The aviary of claim 18 , further comprising a bottom space adjacent the floor, wherein the fan circulates the air in a first direction through the bottom space.

20. The aviary of claim 19 , further comprising at least one solid floor and at least one grated floor disposed above the bottom space, wherein the fan further circulates the air above the at least one solid floor in a second direction opposite the first direction.

21. The aviary of claim 20 , wherein the at least one walkway is disposed above the at least one solid floor such that the fan circulates the mixed air around the at least one walkway in the second direction.

22. The aviary of claim 20 , wherein the at least one walkway comprises a ramp having an upper surface facing at least partially in the second direction such that the ramp is configured to create air turbulence.

23. The aviary of claim 12 , further comprising a wall, wherein the plenum is disposed on or in said wall.
