Abstract

An information handling system includes a unified communicator for initiating, via an application processor, a wireless link with a recipient user, a wireless adapter for communicating with a wireless link. The application processor executes instructions for determining one or more communication link options with the recipient user and determines an optimal wireless link from among the communication link options with the recipient user.

Claims (53)

1. An information handling system comprising:

a unified communicator for presenting, via an application processor, selection of a plurality of addressable recipient user network receiver devices and for initiating communication with a recipient user;

a wireless adapter for communicating with a wireless network;

the application processor executing instructions for determining one or more communication link options with the recipient user from among the plurality of addressable recipient user network receiver devices;

the application processor for determining an optimal wireless link from among the communication link options with the provided addressable recipient user network receiver devices for presentation via the unified communicator wherein:

the application processor selecting a wireless link from among the communication link options with the recipient user based on a spatial-temporal radio frequency profile indicating signal quality for wireless links available at a location and a spatial-temporal user profile comprising wireless service usage trend data for the location; and

the wireless adapter transmitting a request for access to the wireless link.

2. The system of claim 1 , further comprising:

the unified communicator prompting a user to select a wireless link type preference for communicating with a recipient user from among a plurality of addressable recipient user network receiver devices; and

the application processor storing the location, time, and preference selection by the user for communication with the recipient user.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the wireless adapter sends user call data to a second unified communicator at the recipient user information handling system for identification of a user regardless of the wireless link option used to communicate with the recipient user.

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the spatial-temporal radio frequency profile indicating wireless link ratings further comprises end to end latency data for wireless links available at the location.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the application processor determines a wireless link type preference stored for the user of the information handling system including a preferred communication method for communications with a recipient user.

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the application processor is further adapted to:

measure bit error rates during service usage on the selected wireless link of the communication link options with the recipient user at the location; and

update the signal quality data in the spatial-temporal radio frequency profile.

7. The system of claim 1 , further comprising:

the application processor determining if a wireless link is available in the location; and

the application processor selecting a highly-rated wireless link ahead of alternative available wireless links.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the application processor determines a predicted future information handling system path during a future time interval and selects a highly-rated wireless link from among the communication link options with the recipient user at a location near the predicted future information handling system path.

9. An information handling system comprising:

presenting, via a unified communicator operating on an application processor, selection of a plurality of addressable recipient user network receiver devices for initiating communication with a recipient user;

communicating with a wireless network via a wireless adapter;

determining one or more communication link options with the recipient user from among the plurality of addressable recipient user network receiver devices;

determining an optimal wireless link from among the communication link options with the provided addressable recipient user network receiver devices for presentation via the unified communicator;

selecting a wireless link from among the communication link options with the recipient user based on a spatial-temporal radio frequency profile indicating signal quality for wireless links available at a location and a spatial-temporal user profile comprising wireless service usage trend data for the location; and

transmitting a request for access to the wireless link.

10. The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

mapping the wireless service usage trend data to available wireless links;

selecting a highly-rated wireless link from among the communication link options with the recipient user wherein the selection is based on a spatial-temporal radio frequency profile indicating signal quality for available wireless links and the spatial-temporal user profile comprising wireless service usage trend data for the location; and

transmitting a request for access to the selected highly-rated wireless link via a wireless adapter.

11. The method of claim 9 , wherein the spatial-temporal radio frequency profile further comprises data indicating latency of response across the wireless link.

12. The method of claim 9 , accessing user preferences for communication link options with the recipient user and applying user preferences to wireless link ratings from among the communication link options with the recipient user.

13. The method of claim 9 , sending user call data to a second unified communicator at the recipient user information handling system for identification of a user regardless of the wireless link option used to communicate with the recipient user.

14. The method of claim 9 , further comprising:

prompting, via the unified communicator, a user to select a wireless link type preference for communicating with a recipient user; and

storing the location, time, and preference selection by the user for communication with the recipient user.

15. An information handling system comprising:

a unified communicator for presenting, via an application processor, selection of a plurality of addressable recipient user network receiver devices and for initiating communication with a recipient user;

a wireless adapter for communicating with a wireless network;

the application processor executing instructions for determining one or more communication link options with the recipient user from among the plurality of addressable recipient user network receiver devices;

the application processor to determine which wireless links are available in the location;

the application processor for determining an optimal wireless link from among the communication link options with the provided addressable recipient user network receiver devices for presentation via the unified communicator wherein:

the application processor selecting a wireless link from among the communication link options with the recipient user based on a spatial-temporal radio frequency profile indicating signal quality for wireless links available at a location and a spatial-temporal user profile comprising wireless service usage trend data for the location;

the application processor selecting a highly-rated wireless link ahead of alternative available communication link options with the recipient user based on the spatial-temporal radio frequency profile and the spatial-temporal user profile; and

a wireless adapter transmitting a request for access to the selected highly-rated wireless link.

16. The system of claim 15 , further comprising:

the unified communicator prompting a user to select a wireless link type preference for communicating with a recipient user; and

the application processor storing the preference selection by the user for communication with the recipient user.

17. The system of claim 15 , wherein the application processor determines the wireless link ratings of a plurality of the available wireless links including mean opinion score (MOS) for the available wireless links.

18. The system of claim 15 , wherein the application processor determines a wireless link type preference stored for the user of the information handling system including a preferred communication method for communicating with a recipient user.

19. The system of claim 15 , wherein the application processor selecting a highly-rated wireless link ahead of alternative available communication link options with the recipient user is further based on applying wireless link type preferences for communication methods to the recipient user to wireless link ratings from among the communication link options with the recipient user.

20. The system of claim 15 , wherein the wireless adapter sends user call data to a second unified communicator at the recipient user information handling system for identification of a user regardless of the wireless link option used to communicate with the recipient user.
