Abstract

A drill guide includes a first bone plate that extends along a first middle plane, and a second bone plate that extends along a second middle plane. The drill guide further includes a first articulation and a second articulation that is connected to the first articulation. The first and second articulations are arranged between the first and the second bone plate. Each of the first and second articulations is releasably lockable.

9. The method of claim 1 , prior to the adjusting step, further comprising the step of selecting a path along the distal radius between the radius head bone segment and radius shaft bone segment to perform the osteotomy.

10. The method of claim 1 , further comprising the steps of:

marking the radius shaft bone segment with a first guide mark;

marking the first plate with a second guide mark; and

aligning the second guide mark of the first plate with the first guide mark on the radius shaft bone segment.

11. The method of claim 1 , wherein the adjustable drill guide includes a first articulation that defines the first axis of rotation and a second articulation that defines the second axis of rotation.

12. The method of claim 11 , wherein the adjustable drill guide includes a central articulation disposed between the first and second articulations.

13. A method for performing a corrective operation of a distal radius comprising a radius shaft bone segment and a radius head bone segment, the method comprising the steps of:

adjusting an adjustable drill guide comprising a first plate pivotably connected to a second plate where the first plate is elongated in a first direction by rotating the second plate relative to the first plate about a first, a second, and a third axis of rotation wherein the first axis of rotation, the second axis of rotation, and the third axis of rotation are each different;

positioning the first plate against the radius shaft bone segment and positioning the second plate against the radius head bone segment;

drilling a first hole into the radius head bone segment through a first bone screw hole in the second plate and a second hole into the radius head bone segment through a second bone screw hole in the second plate, and inserting a first bone anchor into the first hole and a second bone anchor into the second hole to attach the second plate to the radius head bone segment;

drilling a third hole into the radius shaft bone segment through a slot that is elongated in the first direction on the first plate and a fourth hole into the radius shaft bone segment through a second bone screw hole in the first plate;
