Liver X receptor modulators
Provided herein are novel compounds and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof that are liver X receptor modulators. Also provided are compositions comprising compounds of the invention and a carrier. Additionally, use of the compounds herein and methods for treating a disease or disorder associated with the liver X receptor are further described.

3. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound of the formula:

4. The pharmaceutical composition of claim 3 , wherein the compound is of the formula:

5. A method of treating a subject with dermatitis, comprising administering to the subject an effect amount of a compound of the formula:
or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
6. The method of claim 5 , wherein the compound is of the formula:
or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
7. The method of claim 6 , wherein the dermatitis is contact dermatitis.
8. The method of claim 6 , wherein the dermatitis is eczema.
9. The method of claim 6 , wherein the dermatitis is atopic dermatitis.
