Abstract

A timepiece includes a case; a dial made from nonconductive material; a movement that is housed in the case and has multiple motors that drive respective staffs disposed at different locations; a patch antenna that is disposed inside the case and at the back side of the dial; and a battery that supplies power to the motors and is disposed at a position in the case that does not overlap the patch antenna in plan view. The position at which the battery is disposed overlaps at least one of the motors in plan view.

Claims (29)

1. A timepiece, comprising:

a case;

a dial that is made from a nonconductive material;

a movement that is housed in the case and has a at least one motor that drives at least one staff;

a patch antenna that is disposed inside the case and at a back side of the dial; and

a battery that supplies power to the motor and is disposed at a position in the case that does not overlap the patch antenna in plan view;

wherein the position at which the battery is disposed overlaps the at least one motor in plan view.

2. The timepiece described in claim 1 , further comprising:

a receiver that processes a signal received by the patch antenna; and

a circuit board to which the receiver is mounted;

wherein the circuit board has a void at a position corresponding to the battery.

3. The timepiece described in claim 2 , wherein:

the circuit board has metal patterns;

the patch antenna is disposed at one side of the circuit board; and

the receiver is mounted at another side of the circuit board.

4. The timepiece described in claim 1 , wherein:

the movement has a plurality of motors that drive respective staffs disposed at different locations,

the dial has a first display unit at which one of the staffs is disposed and a second display unit at which another of the staffs is disposed, the first and second display units being positioned so as not to overlap; and

the patch antenna is disposed at a position that overlaps part of the first display unit and part of the second display unit.

5. The timepiece described in claim 4 , further comprising:

a receiver that processes a signal received by the patch antenna;

wherein the first display unit has a display portion in which a metal hand indicates whether the receiver is processing the signal; and

wherein, while reception and processing of the signal by the receiver is in progress, the metal hand is configured so as not to move to a position overlapping the patch antenna in plan view.

6. The timepiece described in claim 4 , further comprising:

a receiver that processes a signal received by the patch antenna;

wherein the first display unit has a signal level display portion in which a metal hand indicates a level of reception of the signal while the receiver processes the signal; and

wherein the signal level display portion is positioned so as not to overlap the patch antenna in plan view.

7. The timepiece described in claim 1 , further comprising:

a date wheel made from nonconductive material is disposed at a position overlapping, at least in part, the patch antenna in plan view.
