Abstract

Computer program products, methods, systems, apparatus, and computing entities are provided for predicting and correcting addresses. In one embodiment, this includes applying exception rules to determine whether to generate an exception for an address. If an exception exists, there are various approaches for predicting or correcting the addresses.

Claims (51)

1 . A method comprising:

for an address that generated an exception from the application of one or more exceptions rules, determining whether a confidence level associated with the address satisfies a configurable threshold; and

responsive to determining that the confidence level associated with the address satisfies the configurable threshold, overriding the exception for the address and indicating that the item is to be picked up from or delivered to the address.

2 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining whether a successful visit to the address has occurred; and

responsive to determining that a successful visit the address has occurred, updating the confidence level for the address.

3 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining whether an unsuccessful visit to the address has occurred; and

responsive to determining that an unsuccessful visit the address has occurred, updating the confidence level for the address.

4 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining the number of successful visits to the address that have occurred; and

responsive to determining the number of successful visits to the address that have occurred, updating the confidence level for the address.

5 . The method of claim 1 further comprising:

determining the number of unsuccessful visits to the address that have occurred; and

responsive to determining the number of unsuccessful visits to the address that have occurred, updating the confidence level for the address.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the exception is selected from the group consisting of (a) incorrect address information, (b) missing address information, and (c) changed address information.

7 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the confidence level is expressed a percentage or a number.

8 . An apparatus comprising at least one processor and at least one memory including program code, the at least one memory and the program code configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to at least:

for an address that generated an exception from the application of one or more exceptions rules, determine whether a confidence level associated with the address satisfies a configurable threshold; and

responsive to determining that the confidence level associated with the address satisfies the configurable threshold, override the exception for the address and indicate that the item is to be picked up from or delivered to the address.

9 . The apparatus claim 8 , wherein the memory and program code are further configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to:

determine whether a successful visit to the address has occurred; and

responsive to determining that a successful visit the address has occurred, update the confidence level for the address.

10 . The apparatus claim 8 , wherein the memory and program code are further configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to:

determine whether an unsuccessful visit to the address has occurred; and

responsive to determining that an unsuccessful visit the address has occurred, update the confidence level for the address.

11 . The apparatus claim 8 , wherein the memory and program code are further configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to:

determine the number of successful visits to the address that have occurred; and

responsive to determining the number of successful visits to the address that have occurred, update the confidence level for the address.

12 . The apparatus claim 8 , wherein the memory and program code are further configured to, with the processor, cause the apparatus to:

determine the number of unsuccessful visits to the address that have occurred; and

responsive to determining the number of unsuccessful visits to the address that have occurred, update the confidence level for the address.

13 . The apparatus claim 8 , wherein the exception is selected from the group consisting of (a) incorrect address information, (b) missing address information, and (c) changed address information.

14 . The apparatus claim 8 , wherein the confidence level is expressed a percentage or a number.

15 . A computer program product comprising at least one non-transitory computer-readable storage medium having computer-readable program code portions stored therein, the computer-readable program code portions comprising:

an executable portion configured to, for an address that generated an exception from the application of one or more exceptions rules, determine whether a confidence level associated with the address satisfies a configurable threshold; and

an executable portion configured to, responsive to determining that the confidence level associated with the address satisfies the configurable threshold, override the exception for the address and indicate that the item is to be picked up from or delivered to the address.

16 . The computer program product claim 15 further comprising:

an executable portion configured to determine whether a successful visit to the address has occurred; and

an executable portion configured to, responsive to determining that a successful visit the address has occurred, update the confidence level for the address.

17 . The computer program product claim 15 further comprising:

an executable portion configured to determine whether an unsuccessful visit to the address has occurred; and

an executable portion configured to, responsive to determining that an unsuccessful visit the address has occurred, update the confidence level for the address.

18 . The computer program product claim 15 further comprising:

an executable portion configured to determine the number of successful visits to the address that have occurred; and

an executable portion configured to, responsive to determining the number of successful visits to the address that have occurred, update the confidence level for the address.

19 . The computer program product claim 15 further comprising:

an executable portion configured to determine the number of unsuccessful visits to the address that have occurred; and

an executable portion configured to, responsive to determining the number of unsuccessful visits to the address that have occurred, update the confidence level for the address.

20 . The computer program product claim 15 , wherein the exception is selected from the group consisting of (a) incorrect address information, (b) missing address information, and (c) changed address information.

21 . The computer program product claim 15 , wherein the confidence level is expressed a percentage or a number.
